This is what happens when societies break down.

Buckle Up.

I'll agree. Males stop taking responsibility for their lives and start blaming other people. I dont know where their inability to control their anger/bitterness comes from...men in the past seemed to have it.

Youth have been poorly raised and are a disaster, they will almost certainly be a disaster for America for as long as thye live.

Many of them can not possibly be saved at this point, they are too messed up, though we need to try.

But notice how all anyone wants to talk about is the tools they use to get back at us, to hurt us.

We avoid the main problem because we are willfully ignorant and weak.

Yup, mass shooters are almost always males. As are most violent criminals.

My guess is women piss them off.

But seriously. Men have been totally written off in our society. And I am using the word men as in “good man.” It isn’t a good time to be a man. If you make more money than a woman and act manly? You are a chauvinist pig. If you make less money? Less education? You are lazy. Most heterosexual men have a strong drive to based on women. And what women think and do plays a role. It is a tough. Emotionally speaking? I feel very isolated as a man in today’s world. But that is why I make an effort to go out and stuff.

Honestly? I think that plays a huge role. Isolation. Being lonely. Not having a firm grasp on the social aspects of life. So as much as my very sarcastic comment at the top is sarcastic, it is also kind of true. Because these men are NOt handling their social lives well in this day and age. And can you blame them? We are all expected to be these alpha male rich guys who respect a woman’s independence and let them be the boss and make the money. (Again sarcasm). I think these guys get lost and confused socially and that is where it starts.

Psychotic episodes are fairly common. Add guns and this is what you get.

And yet women turn to violence far less often than men do when their lives don't work out well. What are women doing right that we aren't?

Emotions. Emotional connections. Men don’t handle them well. Men tend to go into isolation. Women don’t. Men tend to be fight or flight during a stress response. Women tend to have more emotional range that includes and relies heavily on “tend and befriend.” That reflects our species history. Women are usually more social. Men are the hunters. The fighters. Our survival did not require emotion. In fact? Our survival was less important than a woman’s survival. So we have violence hardwired into us a bit more.

Maybe the problem is men thinking or believing this, I dont know. The empowerment of women to an equal status with men is something that needs to be adjusted to like every other advancement in society. But the 'right and wrong' part is pretty damn clear. It's not an excuse.

You don’t need a gun to have an episode man. I could do more damage with my limited knowledge in chemistry and access to google. Especially in a town like Jacksonville. Remember when serial killers were all “the rage.” I would be willing to bet these people tend to be the same.

Men and women are biologically different, and you can't teach nature.

It’s acceptable for women to cry in public..........that relieves much stress, imo

Does not speak for "men" in general.

Just so I understand. You could lose a video game, get pissed, go buy some chemicals and use google to do more damage in just as short of time as it took this guy to get his gun and shoot 11 people?

People need to take responsibility for their actions no matter how bad things get. Don't make excuses for violence.

There is no excuse. I agree. And women should have equal status. But psychologically it is very different. Especially when it comes to friendship and mating. It goes back to that isolation. I think men are having a harder time connecting to women. 75% of relationships are ended by women. That means they do the selecting. And constant rejection and failure is isolating. Factor in that men are less likely to discuss that with other men? And even when they do? It is pretty rudimentary.

Right now? I’m a wreck. My breakup was bad. I am still trying to figure myself out and take care of myself. I’m not used to that. I have always been the provider. But I’m forcing myself out there. It still isn’t easy because I try not to talk about my emotions and my feelings with others. Men or women. Why? Weakness. I don’t want to be seen as weak. And I’m guessing these losers who finally crack have some similarities to that. They crack because they are isolated. They don’t process their emotions. Drug usage. Not many real friends. They feel impotent. A total lack of control on their world.

Which makes sense when you consider how they go out? Rage filled attacking everything in sight. They think that violence gives them control. I get it. I use violence as part of my exercise and in my past fighting with other guys. Being able to hurt someone, even in controlled brawl sessions, was cathartic. It gave me a sense of control. But that is the kind of thing I would only talk about with a therapist or some randos on the internet. Not the kind of thing you bring up with friends and family.

I don’t know where we start, but it needs to be somewhere around dealin with emotional health and processing for young men.

Examinations are not excuses for violence. I don’t make excuses. If I haven’t killed someone in a random act of unprovoked violence or even due to a social problem? Nobody really has an excuse.

I have a set of keys man. I don’t even need that. And a blade is just as easy to hide. The fact is murder is not hard on something as weak as a human. We are ******s on about the same level as rabbit when it comes to how easy it is to kill us.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I've had my heart smashed into pieces before and I'll tell you, it's not fun. So what should a man do in that circumstance? He mourns, he cries his tears, and then he begins the process of moving on. Above all, he does not harm innocent people that had nothing to do with his downturn. There's absolutely nothing manly about that. There's absolutely nothing manly about what this guy did, or what any other mass shooter did.

Women piss everyone off including other women. Most people don't shoot people because of it.

Something's broken in their psyche.

Really really really disagree.

Both do the selecting, both on what's 'important' to them.

Women may do the selecting for sex, but men do the selecting for long-term relationships.

Which, interestingly enough, as a broad but accurate generalization, works the opposite of what both are looking for (men: sex, women: the security of a relationship)

If the men get rejected in breakups, it's likely because they're not making it as long term relationship material...which requires commitment and work and basically, them stopping seeking sex 'elsewhere.' The 'hunting' is supposed to end (for most long term relationships).
