The ones who do have gone off the deep end, and we as a society are going to instill in our young people, particularly boys, that this is not the answer. You keep wanting to deflect personal responsibility away from them and make all sorts of clever excuses. This is where your argument fails.

To answer your question, it wouldn't make any difference at all if the shooter were black or Hispanic, unless of course they cited their race as the reason for shooting those people. The only reason it would be significant if the shooter was of middle eastern decent, was if he cited Islam as the motivation for his crime... because like it or not, radical Muslims are still waging war on the west.

Even if you know someone who is a gun owner and a head case, it's very difficult to stop it. The best choice that we have is to stop "gun free zones".

Honest question: were they?

Men just left in the past. Walked away, if not formally divorced.

Women had kids out of wedlock, never tracked down fathers (no DNA testing, means, care, etc etc).

So I'm not that sure about that.

Note: I'm not disputing the effect, I'm questioning the frequency/number.

His race is irrelevant, but his country of origin wasn't. He was an illegal alien from Mexico and last time I checked "Mexican" is not a race.


Why not the Race of Dylan Roof? Why not the Race of the Charlottesville Murderer; you know, all of those ‘very fine KKK and Nazi’ folks this Abomination of a President loves.

In those cases their race was relevant, because their crimes were motivated by race.

I don’t think “gun free” or lack thereof makes a difference. These incidents do happen in areas with armed people too. Less often, sure, but more likely to be stopped by doing some head shrinking.

40 years ago, young males weren’t polluted with psychotropic and opioid meds with easy legal access to weapons of war.

You just brought something up I hadnt thought of.

We are now into a new generation of kids in school, that have been affected by school shootings. This has been impressed on them since they entered schools.

They KNOW. This is (sort of) a matter of survival to them. Schools teach about what to do, etc.

Arent we teaching them? We must be, right? But something's not working.

I think you are missing my point. I’m not making an argument. It is a small amount of people. And they have several key factors in common. Especially regarding emotional response. History of violence. Things of that nature. Recognizing these are not excusing them as reasons to do it. And it isn’t saying they shouldn’t take personal responsibility. In fact? I would argue that teaching personal responsibility at a young age is a big way to deal with this. We as a culture are not doing a good job of that.

And a lot of these people are already adults too. So what do you do then? Not much. My argument really is that we as a society need to take a firm look at WHO to better understand WHY before we can give an appropriate HOW to deal with the known WHAT. If that makes sense? I’m not really arguing against you.

On the (ab?)use of 'happy pills' I am inclined to agree with you but it was far easier to get a gun 40 years ago - just bop into a Western Auto store and buy a handgun (or two) and some boxes of ammo.
