I am constantly looking for solutions to problems but the first thing that needs to happen before a solution to a problem is found is to be aware that there is a problem. Evidently, I believe that Trump is the worst President that we have ever had or will ever have but the reality is that there are a lot of people that see it differently than I do and as such I have to believe that I can be wrong. I know what I know but there are a lot of things I don't know, as such I am always reading and trying to see "the other side" to see if I am missing something.

Tonight my focus was on coming up with a list of qualities that a President must have. I have found many sites with guidelines and not all are the same.

Below is one of those sites that has a list that is actually written by a Philippinee guy regarding what he considers are important for a President to have and he was not thinking about Trump but about the Philippines. This was written in 2014 before Trump was even in the picture but he certainly gives a list that makes sense. By the way, he believes #14 is the most important.

In reading this list, I want you to see how many of these qualities Trump has and how many he has not. I could not come up with any though some people may disagree about 2 or 3 of them. Even so, the amount that he does not fulfill, is overwhelming.

1. Accountability. A good president understands that he (she) is the head of the state. When the nation falls, he acknowledges his responsibility rather than blame his subordinates. He recognizes himself as the father of the entire nation. Hence, he treats the local government unit leaders as his children, and take responsibility in helping them whenever they face problems.

2. Respect. A good leader of a country respects the constitution, abides the laws, and honors the decision of the Supreme Court. He also listen and respect the views of the common people.

3. Cohesiveness. An effective head of the government promotes unity among his people rather than causing them to divide and have meaningless fights.

4. Humility. An effective president admits his mistakes and weaknesses. He also acknowledges that he’s not good at everything. That is why he leaves the other tasks to the other branches of the government, such as the legislative and judiciary bodies.

5. Honesty. An effective leader upholds truth and integrity. He preserves the trust and confidence given to him by the people. And of course, he doesn’t embezzle the funds of the nation.

6. Independence. A strong president is not a puppet. His actions are not a product of impartial decisions. He’s not manipulated by oligarchs or a few people who are thirsty of power and wealth of a nation.

7. Wisdom. A wise president knows how to discern right from wrong. He knows how to make the right decisions. He shows maturity of the mind. His words provide power and enlightenment to all.

8. Courage. A great leader of a nation has the courage to execute the decisions that he believes are right. He’s not afraid to stand and fight for righteousness for the sake of his countrymen.

9. Compassion. An effective president understands what his people are going through. He can feel the sufferings of the oppressed and poor people. He is not arrogant, rather he’s gentle and uplifting to people who are suffering from misery and pain.

10. Action. A great leader is a role model of hard work. He walks his talk and inspires his people through his actions. He makes sure that his promises are done and not broken.

11. Proactivity. An effective leader of a country is not insecure and reactive. Instead, he possesses intuit and initiative to create solutions for the present and future problems.

12. Passion. Great leaders do their job with enthusiasm. They serve the public, not because they are compensated with money and fame, but because that is their mission in life.

13. Commitment. An effective head of the government is determined to realize his great visions and dreams for the nation. Patience and persistence manifest in him.

14. Love. Finally, an effective president of a country has a selfless love for his (her) people and for all the next generations. All of the qualities above are difficult to practice, but because of his love, he does his best to practice them all.

Sounds good to me.

Of course, this would eliminate almost a hundred percent of all the people who ever ran for President or actually won.

We are eyeballs deep in humility or actually oft times it is fake humility served up to appease twits.....and the Country is turning to junk!

No

EDIT: I notice all these touchy feely things you like to see, but I ask you, what about skills?

Clearly you need to do more thinking before you come see us.

Not so! Though no one is perfect it must be said that Lincoln (for example) was rated a 95 out of 100, meaning that he fulfilled most of these qualities. The 10th best President was considered to be Reagan and he rated a 69 out of 100, so not perfect but more good than bad.

Trump is running last with a rating of 12 out of 100, suggesting that he is the bottom of the well. Shouldn't we strive for better and not settle for the worst?

I don't have a fairy-tale, "utopian" wish list. The only thing I ask from a president is that he/she works on what was promised during the campaign run.
After all, those promises/campaign points are the reason why I give my vote to that person.

Rated by whom?

So what are you saying? Are you giving up on our country? Or settling for less?

Oh so sorry I thought I was clear....Your conception of what makes for a good President is seriously seriously flawed.

I recommend a full rethink for you.

Kind of like the road to hell being paved with good intentions?

The only skill that I see that Trump has is that of a salesman (scammer in my opinion) but what good are skills if your objective is to steal, bully, feed your ego and get rich.

and by the way, so far he is failing miserably at the Trade War, at building relationships with our allies and in uniting our country (to name just a few).

I thought it was maybe more along the lines of "I what my President to have the morals of a saint, because he is my Priest, because I am stupid like that.....
A real Modern Moron".

I am sometimes wrong.

It is funny that you mention that because Trump is rated last with a rating of 12 out of 100, meaning that you are the one that has the wrong idea about what makes a Good President. If you want the link to the rating company see above. By the way, it is not just 1 rating company but many.

Trump might have saved America, and if not at least he got up off his ass and tried, so I am good.

Oh...a group of more than 170 scholars from the American Political Science Association. Color me unimpressed.

Let me use math to explain this:

A group of 170 scholars versus 1 scholar disagreeing and leaving. Is this what you are basing your rebuttal on? I can see why you support Trump, you like being the odd man.

By the way, this is picture of Bruce Gilley that left the American Political Science Association. Does this picture instill confidence in you?

Exactly, they keep saying "all that touchy feely stuff doesn't matter -- just skills, policies, performance, ...."

But he has shown himself to be supremely incompetent, ignorant, undisciplined, destructive.

Now, some will say that what they appreciate about him is his destructiveness. So, for them, what Trump is and what they claim to value do indeed mesh. So bravo for them, I guess.

1. Do you dispute the facts he listed?

2. Does his appearance matter to you?

I have no reason to believe he was lying about the agenda of the association and I don't care what he looks like.

You know mycroft, in thinking about this post of yours, I actually had to laugh out loud.

There is absolutely NOTHING that can make you think about anything against Trump. You are definitely and totally in love and in awe of the man. He has you hypnotized.

Do you realize that "170" American Political Scientists have rated Trump last? These are not news media (not CNN or MSNBC) and not some madmen that are Never-Trumpists. These are scholars that have studied political science all of their lives and have rated all 44 Presidents, starting with #1 being Lincoln and #10 being Reagan............and you are so "for Trump no matter what" that you send a link to one scholar that left the group as proof that they don't know what they are doing.

If it wasn't so pitiful it would be utterly laughable. You cannot even take a serious analysis by a group of scholars and give it ANY importance.

You are a lost case and that means that anything you say from here on in will be ignored or laughed at.

He recognizes himself as the father of the entire nation. Hence, he treats the local government unit leaders as his children, and take responsibility in helping them whenever they face problems.

Accountability--to be held accountable--be it in the military or on the streets of Chicago or in a Presidential palace, is the ability to be questioned, and the ability to be charged, prosecuted, and sentenced to prison. Hillary Clinton was not accountable before the US law and in effect like many in the highest levels of the US Government are above the law. Period.

I once guarded 1 of 2 buildings 2nd to the US Pentagon when I was in the Marines. I had a Secret level security clearance and certain portions of the building remained off limits to me even as a lower ranking leader in the guards that guarded the building. Had I or any peon under me violated such high level security rules as Omarosa did our behinds would be court martialed and likely sentenced to Federal prison.

So, one can spare me these fictitious tales of accountability in the civilian sector of the US Government at its highest levels. A 13 year-old prostitute on the streets of Chicago has more accountability than any of these people.

3. Cohesiveness. An effective head of the government promotes unity among his people rather than causing them to divide and have meaningless fights.

Like the US Civil War or all the 1960s race riots? Or the constant social wars and divisions the Democratic Party continually promotes?

The USA is like that multicultural phenomenon that came centuries before it: the Catholic Church. The USA under Obama and Trump was about as cohesive as the Catholic Church was under Pope Benedict the 16th or Pope Francis today.

The Greek Orthodox Church, Russian Orthodox Church, Coptic Orthodox Church are respectively more cohesive than either the Catholic Church or the United States of America. You wage direct war on me when you raise a Satanic statue in Arkansas (perhaps in honor of Bill, Hillary, and Chelsa Clinton's nice relations with Satanic people, and Hillary's blaspheming of the Virgin Mary), meant as war on me and Christians. Period. We are not friends but enemies. I will take no Judas coins denominated in US dollars to betray Jesus for whatever Satanic theocracy Democrats hope to install in the USA de facto.

Let another US Civil War wage.

You got a link to the rating by those 170 American Political Scientists of Obama at 580 days into his presidency?

After all, those promises/campaign points are the reason why I give my vote to that person.

Does that mean that you support his tactics? That you support the reaching the goal no matter the way it was accomplished? Sounds Hitlerian to me. Hitler did what he promised but killed 6 million Jews in doing so.

Where is your "line in the sand"?

For your information, they rate Obama 9th, above Reagan at 10th.

President Barack Obama earned 44 percent approval in June 2010, a year and a half into his first term, and so did late President Ronald Reagan in June 1982, according to NBC
