I'm so thankful I'm not younger

Ranking yourself as someone who Loves America more than others is truly sad and disappointing, showing just how much our Nation is hurting.

I applaud those who rank themselves among those who love America and am proud that I am among them. I feel very worry for those who don't.

I am teaching my kids to be ready to live anywhere in the World they need to. Could it be that one day that the indigenous people in the Amazon will have a better quality of life than the so-called "civilized" parts of the world? I remember reading in the news that a Tupi-Guarani tribe met electrical workers with machetes. It turns out that one of the scouts made it to the city. He described the slums, crime, noise and blight to his tribe. They decided that they wanted no part of "civilization".

FWIW, my sons have Tupi-Guarani blood in them.

Some might describe that tribe as "ignorant". Perhaps they weren't even literate, but is seems that they made a pretty well informed decision.

I am not sure if the cartel comment in the OP was in reference to Mexico, but I can assure you that it is not necessary to pay the cartel anything to live in the country.

You're NOT entitled to your opinion, you're entitled to your own INFORMED opinion, there's a difference because your ignorance is not equal to knowledge.
I disagree.

You're entitled to have whatever opinion you want, wrong or not, and suffer the consequences of actions based on it accordingly.

For example, if your opinion is obviously wrong, you should rightly suffer ridicule for speaking as if it is right.

I hear you except that I won't leave the country that I love and that has made it possible to be me, at least up until now. But I am stubborn enough to try to be part of the force that corrects the truly evil side of it that now permeates almost all of American culture and society.

You are correct that the SJWs, snowflakes, socialists, and anarchists--the same who have absolutely lost their collective minds since they became afflicted with TDS--have so permeated media, education, science, and all other institutions that influence American thought that political correctness has become the new fanatical religion of the nation in direct opposition to the First Amendment of the Constitution both in free speech and freedom of religion.

Don't toe the line they intend to dictate and they descend en masse upon and make every effort to discredit and personally destroy the 'offender' demanding they be banned, fired, disallowed any place in society. The President's star on Hollywood Boulevard is demolished, people are harassed in public, customers/clients, suppliers, advertisers etc. are harassed and/or threatened, and they organize in an effort to discredit or silence any voice that disagrees with them even here at DP. Tolerance for any point of view other than the politically correct one that they dictate is unthinkable and disallowed.

But we who love the America as it is intended to be let them win if we don't keep speaking the truth as we see it but allowing all points of view to be expressed and then choosing that which can be defended as feasible, doable, accurate, edifying.

Your post is an important part of doing that. But don't abandon us. Stay and fight with those who love America and what it can be.

This may amuse some of you: when I hear anyone mention "Trump Derangement Syndrome," it occurs to me that this syndrome was preceded by an earlier mutation, "Clinton Derangement Syndrome."

We forget today the level of Rightist ire against Bill Clinton during his two terms, and no matter how the Right chose to explain that anger, IMO their derangement-syndrome stemmed from thinking that they'd controlled the presidency for three terms, and they just did not think they ought to have to surrender power to the Dems.

The new syndrome, also IMO, has developed because the Left had the Presidency for two terms, and they became excessively frustrated when their favored candidate didn't win, especially after getting the popular vote. By comparison, I don't think there was anything like this national gnashing-of-teeth after Dubya won, even under dubious circumstances.

And when people get frustrated, they can't contemplate compromise, only "get the b****s out."

Thank you. I am happy to have acknowledgement - even if it's bitter - that the country needs to pass onto the next generation.

Lord knows the baby boomers need to let go of the reigns of power being that we are precisely where they've put us to this point pretty much.

I agree but it comes down to the generations after boomers to use their voting power. No generation is just going to give up power willingly.

Very true. Its just so hard to wedge out old farts that are entrenched incumbents sometimes. Let's see what November brings.

In the long term the United States will move left. It's hard to think of it right now, but the generations following boomers are much more interested in working towards a social democracy style system. People can make fun of the young progressive politicians we are seeing rise up, but they have decades to change things.

I don't make fun of them. I fully expect that they will create a society that resembles today's Cuba.

I don't consider socialism opposed to freedom.

As with every other idea, it depends on implementation.

Then you don't understand socialism.

You're NOT entitled to your opinion, you're entitled to your own INFORMED opinion, there's a difference because your ignorance is not equal to knowledge.

Incorrect. There is no obligation to be informed to have an opinion.

It has been a sight to behold to see our nation's culture lose the sense that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Furthermore, I never though I would see the day that an openly Socialist Presidential candidate have a serious shot at becoming President. The speed at which freedom being a cultural desire disappear is breathtaking. The USA is almost to the point where one has to watch what one says as much as they do in Communist Cuba. I know, I visited three times and tested the boundaries and even got some warnings to boot. I'm leaning against staying in the USA once I no longer need to earn a salary. Colombia or maybe some parts of Mexico seem really inviting. Paying a bit of protection money to a cartel would be preferable to the need to walk on eggshell society the SJWs are trying to create. In some ways Communist Cuba is less "politically correct" than the USA.

I'm sure that it will only get worse. I'm glad that I won't be around to see it. Our political priorities once put liberty first, now the priorities are to control one's neighbor's speech to be protected from being "offended" and getting free stuff. The USA's culture is becoming more like that of Communist Cuba's with each passing decade, in some respects is already WORSE. There are many parallels between what happened to James Damore in the USA and Karla Perez Gonzalez in Cuba.

There will be more scarce resources for the rest of us if all the gusanos leave, right comrade?

what; you would not 'rather fight than switch?'

you sound as if you are playing the part of the victim; the current 'conservative' narrative under our 'current' government ...........

Isn't it weird how replacing your country's population with our nice friends from south of the border makes our government much more similar to what our nice friends south of the border have?

That's the thing: The illegals are nothing like Mexicans in Mexico. For all their faults, countries South of the border do have a criminal database. Where do you suppose someone in Mexico might go to find work and housing if the Mexican authorities had a criminal record on them?

Cuba is not a social democracy. I know it's confusing to hear progressives accept the "socialist" label, but for the most part it is done because they understand that they will be labeled as socialists no matter what they do. If you look at the policies they are proposing it is much closer to FDR than anything else. I do think the United States will eventually come around to some form of social democracy, just like most of our allies, but I have no idea how long it will take.

A he/she/they/you did it too is about as lame an argument as can be devised for any kind of excuse for indefensible behavior.

Whataboutism is just about as lame.

As is flawed history skewed to favor one's own argument.

The significance of "they did it too" is not to state that "Indefensible Behavior" (whatever that may be) is OK because the other side did it, but that the behavior in question should not be excused on either side.

Assuming that any two people can agree on what "Indefensible Behavior" might be...
