GOP plans big Social Security, Medicare cuts | The Stand

With planned huge cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid of course. Kind of take from the poor and middle class and give to the wealthy plan. For those who don't know, the Federal Government has already borrowed 2.9 TRILLION dollars from the Social Security Trust Fund and now instead of paying it back will cut payments to recipients to pay for their tax cuts. I wonder how much in campaign fund they will get from the wealthy to pay them back for this little act. And Medicare, well it will go to a voucher plan that will eventually end the program, especially since the GOP is going to insure that health insurers won't have to cover those with preexisting conditions, which includes most of those on Medicare. And Medicaid, well let them, the poor, eat cake.

Who’s going to bake the ‘cake?’ That guy out west?

if we don't vote out enough Republicans to divide government, we're in real trouble.

The interesting thing about this is that we just recently had a thread where a number of liberals were anxious to cut the elderly out of the mix. They think the elderly are taking way too much in medical care and so -- they want to cut them off.

Exactly. If the Dems do not take the at least the House back this time, we are all screwed with the proverbial ten foot pole.

they need a ****ing message. we're in August now, and i still have yet to hear one besides "the orange king is a dangerous moron." yes, i'm aware of that. get out there and promise the whole ****ing world to workers. it's obvious that you don't even have to try to deliver on that. just ****ing say it.

It's you guy's fault in the first place that Republicans are in power, including Trump. But, you still haven't learned.

I completely agree with you. I would like to see a Democratic version of the old Contract With America that Gingrich was so successful with in 94.

I don't remember putting the Electoral College in place. I could have sworn that happened well over two centuries ago back in the 1700's. But maybe some other people here do.

So true, I agree with you both.

Given such an easy target like Trump, I'm really disappointed in the Democratic leadership. Schumer has to get on the stick or let someone take over...

Schumer is NOT the type of leader you need in the Senate against Trump. He is the type of office holder who sees himself as the guy who is always on the verge of bringing everyone together for a big deal and filling his walls with photo ops of bill signings that he sponsored or wrote. He is NOT the resistance leader that they need at this time.

Very true. But I see absolutely no leadership at all, who's speaking for the Dems?!? I believe that conservatives should be grateful about the media's fixation on covering each and every Trump outrage, each and every day. It's crowded out much of the Dem's ability to get their message out. We never hear from Schumer and when he finally warrants coverage by the national media, he comes across like some milquetoast, Barney Fife type character. It's not about age, he just lacks the fire in the belly that's needed right now, like you say..

Although it's fun and easy to ridicule most conservative's natural tendency to fall in line, it has its upside. Look at the Repubs, 80% of the rank and file and 100% of their politicians slavishly accept whatever Trump declares. It might be creepy watching them kiss Trump's ring, but they can't risk displeasing him, least he raise an orange eyebrow. They speak with one voice and that has some advantages...

It’s been said that the most dangerous place on earth is between Chuck Schumer and a television canera.

Or Jim Jordan and the truth.
