Government shutdown again?

Perhaps that is what it all boils down to. Winning elections has replaced governing or moving the country forward. .

Well and here is where we have come full circle. See.. I am a cynic.. I don't think that politicians are substantially different than politicians in the past. They all tend to be wealthy guys.. looking for more wealth and power and a job. Very few.. are motivated by a self sacrificing attitude of whats best for the country/people. the vast majority are motivated by what gets and keeps them in power. When the public demands things get done and efficiently.. then thats what happens.. they hold those people to that standard. (its imperfect and slow because of the two party system. but thats whats happened).

When the politicians get their power with hate, and anger and "look at the other guy"... then thats what they do. Whatever works. Which is why I think we are in the straits that we are in today.

Even if the Republicans in congress get a commitment from Trump on legislation, that doesn't mean Trump won't change his mind. I suppose the bottom line is one can't trust Trump. Of course Trump might be all for something one day, but totally opposed the next. Depends on his mood or what pops into his mind.

And thats a real problem for republicans politically. Because if you go out and support legislation.. that is initially backed by Trump.. but THEN he changes his mind and slams YOU... you are the one thats going to end up looking bad to the Trumpettes. who are going to remember that Trump said bad things about you.. not that Trump hamstrung you. So a republican politician is on the hotseat.. they need to be close enough to trump to bask in his overall glow from this ardent supporters.. without getting burned.

The Democrats set out to destroy Trump the day after the election, they will never cooperate with him even if Trump took their side

I am not so sure.. when you see Pelosi and Schumer. the party big wigs.. and the entrenched.. getting invited to the whitehouse to talk or to meetings on gun control.. A lot of these democrat hardcore.. probably actually know trump personally from years of his doing business and as am ardent democrat.. particularly on the east coast/ NY.

Personally I think its very possible that the republican faithful.. might rue the day they elected trump when he flip flops on guns, and other issues that Trump will find easy to flip on.

Obama in my opinion didn't learn from Bill when he lost the House in 2010. Obama continued to try to push the same agenda he had his first two year throughout his presidency. He didn't change or adapt to the new reality. Instead it was his phone, his pen and EO's and enhanced regulations from the various departments. Not legislation.

I think thats because Obama was a realist. .and a pragmatist. You cannot expect support when your very heritage is being called into question and you are being castigated as a communist. He became toxic to the republicans. Heck.. my own senator who has serious conservative creds.. came up with a budget that Obama said.. okay.. lets go with that.. and immediately.. I was getting robo calls from outside the state.. stating that my senator was a RINO.. and the he supported Obama and communism.

Considering that environment.. Obama in my opinion did what he could.

Perhaps he will be satisfied to do nothing and accomplish nothing. Just stopping the new Democratic House from accomplishing anything. That seems to be the politics of today

And there is the key. What the democrats do. If they massage his ego.. heck.. put up universal single payer healthcare.. and call it "trumpcare".. they may get just about everything they want.

Is Trump at all interested in governing?
Only for his own aggrandizement. Basically this is the Trump Reality Show. He has no agenda other than what makes Trump look good. If signing a bill for immigrations to get citizenship is popular and makes him look good.. he would do it.

IF battling with democrats over the wall.. he feels makes him look good.. thats what he will do..

What he ACTUALLY accomplishes or doesn;t has no relevance to him.. because his view is whats in his head.. its the Narcissism talking. WHATEVER Trump does.. trump thinks was great. Doing nothing. starting world war 3 or ending war in this millennia.. the reality doesn;t matter.
