We have an intelligence agency that spies on us every day and stores that private information god knows where. How secure is that information? Are we essentially trading away our freedom/liberty for security?

Anytime we apply for a bank account, credit card, a loan, etc... we are essentially giving away our private information and we do not know how secure these companies are securing our private data - see Equifax hacking.

Our intelligence community appears to miss a lot of things:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Russian authorities warned the FBI in 2011 about Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of two Chechen brothers accused of carrying out last year’s Boston Marathon bombings, but U.S. authorities missed chances to detain him

Citing a congressional report it said could be released by the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee as soon as Thursday, NBC News said the Russian intelligence agency FSB cabled the FBI about its concerns in March 2011, warning that Tsarnaev was known to have associated with militant Islamists.

I can mention the FBI not doing enough to prevent the Florida shooting, but that is obvious.

I am just concerned we are not paying attention to these pressing issues and our country is getting caught up in this dog and pony show that CNN and MSNBC seem to love covering.

What a putz. Here you are attacking the credibility of US intelligence agencies and the findings of the House Intelligence Committee as you snuggle up to the word of Vladimir Putin. You cultists really will put Trump above party and even country, every single time.

Russia provided us intel on the boston bomber. The fbi failed.

James clapper and brennan committed perjury. These are bad people that had civil liberties.

The FBI and US intel agencies avoided intel from the UK, Germany, Dutch, French and SIS about a Trump and Russia collusion as well....

"....The FBI and the CIA were slow to appreciate the extensive nature of these contacts between Trump’s team and Moscow. This was in part due to institutional squeamishness – the law prohibits US agencies from examining the private communications of US citizens without a warrant.

But the electronic intelligence suggested Steele was right. According to one account, the US agencies looked as if they were asleep. “‘Wake up! There’s something not right here!’ – the BND [German intelligence], the Dutch, the French and SIS were all saying this,” one Washington-based source told me.

That summer, GCHQ’s then head, Robert Hannigan, flew to the US to personally brief CIA chief John Brennan. The matter was deemed so important that it was handled at “director level”, face-to-face between the two agency chiefs. James Clapper, director of national intelligence, later confirmed the “sensitive” stream of intelligence from Europe. After a slow start, Brennan used the GCHQ information and other tip-offs to launch a major inter-agency investigation. Meanwhile, the FBI was receiving disturbing warnings from Steele...."

Bahahahahahahahahahahaha! We should support and trust Vladimir Putin over our own intelligence agencies because Russia tipped us off about the Boston bomber!!!

Your arguments are getting dumber and dumber as this scandal progresses. I'm amused.

We shouldn't blindly trust anyone -- not Russia and not our own government, but we should take care not to create such animosity with other nations that it puts our own security at risk.

The problem I see with a certain sect of the Left today, the Progressives to be exact, is a true hatred of Russia based solely on the fact that Putin and Co. preferred Trump over Hillary. When it comes right down to it -- that's what's at the bottom of their hatred. Anyone who supported Trump is anathema in their minds. That's crazy and juvenile of course, but there it is.

The truth is -- Russia isn't any more a threat to us today than they have been in the past few decades. It's pretty much status quo between our nations. Nothing's really changed. They're meddling -- we're meddling -- the world keeps turning. But, we have some very short-sighted Progressives that seem bent on taking Russia down, ostensibly as a punishment for their dislike of Hillary.

The world really doesn't need you little warmongers. You don't have a clue as to what you're messing with.

You've still got a ring of Putin juice around your mouth, you might want to wipe that off.

The idea that the Left wants peace has been exposed as a lie. The old liberals probably did want peace, but this new Progressive group is quite the warmongering cult.

There's peace and there's weakness. What you are saying is that we should sacrifice strength in the interests of peace.

What concerns me is the stupid people living here with me. People who have no clue that Uruguay and Paraguay are two different countries or which continent they inhabit; people who have no sense of US History, let alone World History; people who are clueless and incurious about economics, arts, science, mathematics, humanities, psychology, sociology, and biology worry me more than whatever dribble you posted above. It takes work to maintain a functioning Republic. And, we have failed miserably at that job.

And, that stupidity chicken is finally coming home to roost.

No. No sacrifice.

But, sometimes there is strength in peace and vulnerability in war.

The options must be weighed carefully.

After the fact, the requested information came after the bombing and after the US pushed for it. Or didn't you know that.

Our intelligence agencies (at least those in the upper echelons) have been politized. Along with the FBI.

This should never have been allowed to happen. Trump is exposing them and thus their anger....the media as usual supports anyone that opposes Trump.

The media is the enemy of the people. We need congressional hearings on the bias of the media along with an indepth study of Google and Facebook just to mention two are engaged in censorship against conservatives.

Exactly correct......bully for you.

What concerns me about this country is its plethora of dumbbells. People who don't read except what they find in opinion sites on the Internet, and then feel they have informed themselves, are the most annoying component.

No doubt we are not paying attention to these issues and I have to ask, "why"?

Agree with the first statement for the most part.

On Russia, for some that may be true but then again the right has tried making this only about the results of an election and claiming this is all there is to it, nothing could be further from the truth. Many are concerned with the President of our Nation attacking our Allies while acting like best buds with our biggest enemy. And make no mistake, Russia is still our enemy, they under Putin have proven time after time that things have changed in Russia. They have increased their Military spending, have made several aggressive acts, Syria and the Ukraine to name two, they have been playing chicken with US planes and ship's, and they have fired on Troops in Syria then called an accident. No, Russia is not now our friend, yes we should keep an open dialogue with them, but should not trust them.

No one is calling for war with Russia, that is made up crap by the right to distract from the real danger. But if you want an act by Russia that borders on being one, I will remind you that lost in all the election hacking is the fact that they also were trying to hack into the power grid, and unless one is s complete idiot they will know that there is only One reason for them to I do it. So trust Russia all you want, but there President does not get that option and if he is not careful Congress may just teach him that lesson and the balance of power there is about to shift again as it always does.

As to who we don't need, we do not need Americans that so blindly follow a leader that they are unwilling to question their leaders actions and are willing to sell the Nation down the river in order to protect him. That, Sir, is not Patriotism, that is Treason.

No doubt we are not paying attention to these issues and I have to ask, "why"?

Mainly because of our biased media....still to many folks watching the fake news whose agenda is basically Anti-American...thus their hysteria over President Trump who truly represents the American People especially the working class folks who have not had any real representation in Washington in decades....this infuriates the elites, the establishment types and the deluded pc moderates.

We need to ask ourselves why this cold-wary hysteria is being ginned up on the Left, ever since Trump won.
We KNOW that Obama KNEW about Russian meddling, but did little to nothing, even going so far as to chide us for even the notion that our elections could be hacked. This week, we found out/it was confirmed in a hearing, that Susan Rice gave a stand-down order to our cyber security czar when he presented the Obama administration with a plan to specifically target Russian cyber influences in our country.
Has that made the Left even blink? No.

This current hysteria is based on one thing, and that's expediency. If making the case that Trump is in bed with Russia, and a treasonous traitor based on a rather poor performance at a presser will cause an uprising that maybe might unseat him, then they'll do it.
Mueller is not coming through for them, so they have to take whatever sow's ear they can get their hands on and spin it into gold.

What rubbish....all you guys sound alike.....clueless. Funny how the liberals want to put all their focus on Russia and ignore the real threat ....the Chinese.

No...you are wrong as in incorrect ....................as in spreading dis-information.........as in attempting to decieve....as in spreading liberal propaganda....as in being an enemy of America and our great ally Russia.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...suspect-tsarnaev-report-idUSBREA2P02Q20140326

And you are very confused, as in being blinded by you hate fir those that dare question the actions if trump. If a Dem President were doing the same stuff as trump is you would want them tried for Treason, and we both know it.

Neither is our Friend, never said otherwise, but some people can deal with more than one thing at a time. Nice try at distraction for the current headlines, just so ya know it will not work.
