This charge is going to have all kinds of interesting ramifications given that she's a resident of Washington and she has to stand trial here it's not like the 12 officers who live in Russia and can't be extradited

Read this affidavit filed by an FBI agent it says what it's all about and ooh boy, it's juicy

The Department of Justice announced Monday that federal authorities have arrested 29-year-old Russian national Maria Butina on charges that she covertly worked to infiltrate U.S. political organizations on behalf of a high-ranking Russian official over the course of several years. Butina is charged with "conspiracy to act as an agent of the Russian Federation within the United Stated without prior notification to the Attorney General," the department said.

Butina -- a resident of Washington, D.C. -- was arrested on Sunday. According to the Justice Department, Butina worked "at the direction of a high-level official in the Russian government" from "as early as 2015 ... through at least February 2017." She allegedly tried to advance Russian interests "by developing relationships with U.S. persons and infiltrating organizations having influence in U.S. politics."*

And unlike the named Russians abroad, she sits in custody in the US.

oh look, ANOTHER Russian caught hiding in Trump Jr's underwear during the campaign ...................

While Trumplicans complain mightily about the attention Russians around Trump and the GOP get, every time you shake either the Trump or the GOP tree, another Russian falls out. I might also suggest that shaking various trees around the Internet and around forums will also end up with a number of Russians falling out. Dead serious about that.

Hmm..."US Person 1" and "US Person 2":

U.S. Person 1 is a United States citizen and an American political operative. Butina established contact with U.S. Person 1 in Moscow in or around 2013. U.S. Person 1 worked with Butina to jointly arrange introductions to U.S. persons having influence in American politics, including organization promoting gun rights (herinafter "Gun Rights Organization"), for the purpose of advancing the agenda of the Russian Federation.

U.S. Person 2 is a United States citizen who was included among the participants in a series of email communications in 2016 and 2017 that reveal Butina's efforts to arrange a series of dinners in the District of Columbia and New York City involving Russian Nationals and U.S. persons having influence in American plitics (hereinafter "friendship and dialogue dinners"). Butina told U.S. Person 2 that the Russian Official was "very much impressed by you" and that "the Russians will support the efforts from our side."

Very interesting...and troubling.

While reading through that I also note that while some parts seem to indicate who is being talked about other parts make it seem like someone else, perhaps someone unknown (at least to us lowly citizens) maybe the one actually talked about.

All in all what I gathered is that where it regards to Trump, he didn't know about the collusion, but someone in his campaign definitely knew and was "guiding" Trump towards a certain direction, that direction being in favor of Russia.

Studying history has taught me that one way to overthrow or change the direction of a country is to not do it directly. But to insert someone close to the "leader/s" and influence that person into a certain direction. Usually without that "leader/s" knowledge. That way if anything goes "wonky" then the leader would be blamed while the actual culprit got away scott free. I believe that is what has happened here and with Trump. He is after all not that smart of a person and could probably be swayed certain directions due to his ego. Well, maybe a better word suited to Trump other than "not that smart" would be naive. He's always been told what he wanted to hear and really doesn't understand just how duplicitous people can be. At least imo. That actually makes him far more of a danger than simply being stupid.

This is very interesting, and could be just the "string" to connect a whole bunch of "dots" floating around thanks to Mueller's indictment documents. The revelation of who US Persons 1 and 2 are, I predict, will be an explosive one.

If Manafort starts looking for a deal from Mueller in the next few weeks, I predict this was the predicate event that finally made Manafort realize Mueller knows, or will soon know, where all the bodies are buried.

Also, Butina is being held without bond, so she will be kept here in a U.S. jail until her trial. Things on the Mueller front are ratcheting up.

An accurate reading would be that there are a bunch of folks as yet not named. Blanks to be filled in at a later date but likely known to the FBI already.
