All partisanship aside... It's time for Pelosi to retire.

Well, from what I've gathered, she was going to face a challenge for Democrat house leadership from the guy in NY who lost his primary to the young woman socialist loon. So maybe the Democrats in the House are going to have to do it differently now.

I guess we'll see, but, yes, she'll well past her effectiveness date.
There seems to be a lot of unrest within the Democratic party. More and more Democrats running this November seem to be hesitant to publicly support Pelosi. According to a Politico article last month, there's a growing number of hopefuls that vow not to support Pelosi as speaker if they win back the House.

The problem is that no matter how much they are hated by the voters, Pelosi and Schumer are some how still seen as reliable leaders by their caucuses and no one has the been willing to challenge them for that role.

There is also the recent matter of Joe Crowley, The number 4 Democrat in the house and widely assumed to be a potential successor to Nancy Pelosi as house speaker, lost his primary and upended the House Democratic leadership hierarchy.

As for the two democrats who would lead the house democrats if Pelosi retired, there is steny hoyer of Maryland and James clyburn of South Carolina. Steny hoyer is the number 2 Democrat of the House, but in my opinion he is no suitable replacement as leader of the house democrats because he is more politically conservative than Pelosi. Also there is the matter of his age.

And even If Schumer and Pelosi stepped down, dollars to donuts that who ever replaces them would be loyalists of Pelosi and Schumer and would stay the course.

Not to mention Steny Hoyer is steeped in precisely the dubious sort of backroom skulduggery we don't want to see; the guy just explicitly and personally tried to force out a progressive candidate in favour of an establishment pick: https://theintercept.com/2018/04/26/steny-hoyer-audio-levi-tillemann/ (also notable is Pelosi's defense of him and his actions immediately after the tape came to light).

Completely unacceptable; there is no way this guy should be anywhere close to a position of leadership in the party.

Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, all three represent the arrogant, elite establishment that isn't the least bit interested in anything but protecting their meal ticket regardless of how many elections we lose.
Nancy in particular seems to be very interested in continually talking about how "we can help President Trump be better".
Yeah, like Republicans are interested :lamo ....thanks Nancy, I'm sure they'll get back to you on that.

We got rid of Harry Reid, now it's time to get rid of the rest of the dead wood.

They might mean well, but under their leadership, the Trumpists have secured their power so completely that it will take six to eight points to defeat them. On top of that, the SCOTUS is lost for a generation, and it's likely that Republicans will get to gerrymander again in 2020. It's basically situation critical. They must reboot.

Didn't he nearly make it last time he tried? I'm trying to remember.

No I believe he only garnered a little over 1/3 of the votes.
Your memory on this I'd probably better than mine.
