Anyone remember the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf?

I found the shortest video version for your edification:

(Warning: Foul language.)

I bring this up because that's how I see many on the Progressive-Left and in the MSM acting ever since President Trump was elected.

Story after story about how some action by the Mueller investigation, or revelation by some anonymous information source, or even some side-show (like Stormy Daniels) is going to be "the wolf" that eats Trump, proving once and for all Trump stole the election through some dastardly trick.

That he'll finally be impeached, and the world will be all roses and sunshine again.

Yet each time the "Wolf! Wolf!" turns out to be nothing; a false alarm which raised hopes then had to be quickly dropped. Subsequently a new "revelation" occurs, and "Wolf! Wolf!" is cried loudly and clearly again only to end up with no wolf after all.

Most recently it is the indictment of 12 Russian GRU agents, one of whom pretended to be a Romanian hacker using the name Guccifer 2.0.

Apparently, per our wolf-crying peers, Roger Stone is now the new "certain connection" to Russian collusion which will finally tie all the loose strings together to oust Trump so that truth, justice, and the American Way will prevail.

Yet it all remains (as usual) blatant speculation and conspiracy theory touted as "Truth!"

Has anyone thought that it might be better to simply let the investigation run it's course?

That IF any actual tie to the President or his Administration FACTUALLY comes to light, and indictments are presented stating so, THEN would be the time to shout that a "Wolf!" has entered the fold?

Until then, all this "crying wolf" sounds like desperately bored and frustrated shepherd boys trying to keep relevant when they know there is no actual wolf.

Just like in The Boy Who Cried Wolf, if something ever does show up, the townspeople will just ignore it because they have no reason to believe you anymore.

Many people, including myself, are already there. Hence our silence when a new Anti-Administration thread is posted in the Forum which becomes an echo-chamber for the wolf-criers. :coffeepap:

I think the bigger problem is all of this so-called journalist work that does not even attempt to be fair to our President.

Or journalism for that matter.

People notice.

Has anyone thought that it might be better to simply let the investigation run it's course?

That is exactly what independents and liberals have been calling for, letting the investigation run its course. Republicans have been actively obstructing, denying, distracting and lying to try to get the entire investigation shut down from day 1. Hell, on Monday it's expected for House Republicans to impeach Rosenstein. They do not want to discover the truth because they realize what it means for their political position.

It is now AN INDISPUTABLE FACT that Russian intelligence agents actively hacked our political parties and intentionally steered our election outcome with targeted leaks and propaganda, yet Trump and the majority of his supporters refuse to even accept this FACT. The investigation will continue no matter how hard Republicans scream at the top of their lungs that it should stop. Crying wolf would be saying something is happening then finding out it isn't. This situation is the exact opposite as it's Republicans saying something didn't happen when it turns out it did.

uhm . . . IF you are just realizing that people do this and like you said with the "Progressive-Left and in the MSM acting ever since President Trump was elected." you are part of the problem and are asleep at the wheel. Crying wolf happened with Obama, Bush, Clinton etc etc

Now with that side, its not that i disagree that crying wolf is wrong and counter productive im just saying as an independent i dont see this as anything new and its gone one my entire political life . . .

"Intentionally steered our outcome?"

Not quite. That has been an ongoing claim from your side even before there was any Mueller investigation. That the ONLY way Trump could have won was by Russian support.

Yet there is NO evidence that this Russian action actually had any tangible effect on voting, such that it "steered the outcome" and caused Trump to win.

Meanwhile, if you recall, the DNC information hacks were all verifiably true; and I said back in 2016 prior to the election...what matter the source if the information is true?

Hillary was a bad candidate, Trump busted his ass in old-school "whistle-stop" campaigning that motivated voters to give him their electoral college votes in places the Democrats were so sure they were going to win they hardly bothered to even try to campaign.

Stop acting like the election was stolen, that dog don't hunt.

The commie bastards spent a couple hundred thousand dollars on social media. Is that all it took to stop hildebeast? If that was all that did it, you lefters are in real trouble!

I'm glad the Mueller investigation has gotten far enough that even spineless partisan Trump bots like yourself are admitting they did interfere with our elections, you just have shifted your argument to "You can't prove it had an effect on an election won by a few tens of thousands of votes in a few select states. Also, I don't care!" Mueller is going to continue to drag your dishonest, partisan ass into the reality of the situation one dozen indictments at a time.

Whether it effected the outcome or not isn't even the argument. THE SAME DAY the Russians started this hack was THE SAME DAY Donald Trump went on TV in front of the entire world and asked the Russians to do it. Jesus Christ, how is that not involved?

Party over country. The GOP is scared poopless of Trump's base - they know Trump has almost 90% support within the GOP party. The cowardly GOP lawmakers care only about the next election - short term gain for them - long term damage to this country and our democracy.

I'm just glad these Trump-fellating hyper-partisans are at least admitting there was Russian interference in the election, that's progress. Can we get them to care about a president going on TV in front of the entire world and asking the Russians to do this hack? Unlikely, party over country, but we've seen them go through every stage of denial, including calling everyone else crazy for believing the Russians were even involved. I suspect they will continue to revise and revise and revise their position as the investigation continues.

If anybody has been crying wolf, its been the right-wing.

Despite a mountain of overwhelming evidence that the Russian government orchestrated a covert operation to corrupt our public and electoral procedures, the right-wing has engaged in comedic conspiracy theories that waste valuable bandwidth.

They've accused the FBI, DOJ, CIA, and entire media of being apart of a secret coup to overthrow the Republican power in this country. We've seen them deny there was Russian hacking, that it had any effect on the election, or that if it occurred that Trumps circle had any knowledge or connection to it. Instead they've pimped disgusting theories about the whole thing being an inside job by Seth Rich, and accusing the entire FBI and DOJ of creating this allegations out of thin air, in order to remove Trump form the oval office.

And, of course ... they're still talking about Clinton. Even after a second review of the investigation by the DOJ IG that they requested, they are still accusing federal investigators of conspiracies (without pointing to a single investigative action to back that up of course), while crying that their emotional craving for Clinton to be jailed basically overrules any due process.

These people "cry wolf" all the time with their baseless conspiracy theories. No matter how many times facts and investigations prove them wrong, they continue in their lies and slander anyways. They've decided they are above evidence and facts, and need only their tribalism and emotions to guide them.

Whether there is evidence or not of its effect, there is no doubt now that Russia attacked our democracy. As leader of this country, Trump should actually leading the investigation into the hacking of our voting system and other efforts to subvert our democracy. Instead, Trump continues to deny it ever happened and continues his romance with Putin. The most likely reason is this could be that Trump thinks or knows the Russian efforts help him and want them to keep doing it. Trump knows that Putin needs to bless any significant business deal in Russia and sucking up to Putin as Trump is, is the only way to secure a business deal -The security of this country be damned.

It's criminal negligence at the very least for a president to behave this way.

This is the typical response from your side of the argument. Emotional outbursts and ad hominem attacks.

One thing I've learned is that when the fall-back response is an emotional attempt to denigrate one's opponent that means you have no real argument. That seems to be happening with more and more members on your side of the argument.

Those are the tactics of fanaticism, and IMO is why your side while loud and boisterous is not succeeding in changing anyone's mind. I am sorry to see that. Tagline time.

This is my worry when Trump actually does do something wrong. No one will believe the accusers because of all the bogus accusations made against him in the past. I get it that Trump is two-faced, or a flip flopper. Libs don't like him because he is not Clinton or Bernie. RINOs don't like him because he is not Clinton or Jeb,not war hungry like McCain or some other RINO and he flipped on a lot of issues that they believe in. Both the liberal democrats and RINO republicans miss his donations now that Trump is not claiming to be one of them. But that doesn't mean they should hang onto every negative story about him as though it was the Truth. Because doing so as you said will be like the boy who cried wolf.

You're so disgustingly hyper-partisan that you're telling us that a presidential candidate should be able to go on TV and ask America's enemies to hack and destroy his opponent. You don't have any credibility to criticize anyone for anything. If Hillary had done such a terrible and traitorous act you would be foaming at the mouth and demanding justice.

It's not crying wolf if we have video of him going on live TV in front of the world and asking Russia to specifically do this hack, and then they do. Can you explain why you think pointing that fact out is crying wolf? Did you miss the video clip?

Will you guys ever get over Benghazi?

Any reasonable person with a brain in their head knows he wasn't ****ing serious.
JFC.

He's literally on tape encouraging a hostile foreign power to break our laws, yet you guys still just chug along with your cultish support.

This is my worry when Trump actually does do something wrong.
Any person that isn't blindly following him like he's a god can see that he objectively has ****ed-up more than any president of past.

Any reasonable person with a brain in their head knows he wasn't ****ing serious.

Moreover, people who actually viewed the entire video know he was referring to the report that 5 nations had probably hacked her private server before she was allowed by the FBI to delete 30000 "personal" emails before having the remainder reviewed by the investigators.

So he was making a joke that if the Russian's were the hackers (as opposed to the Chinese or other three alleged possibilities) it would please the press if they find them and release them. He never asked the Russians to hack her server.

Wtf? Your standard is how you think people "feel" and not the facts of the matter? Russia took him seriously and acted on his call. Totally baffling why you think that's ok for our political process.

Yes he did, he word-for-word asked them to hack his opponent. You're excusing this behavior purely because you support Trump's policies. You've taken a very serious crime and written it off as a "joke", even though the Russians didn't consider it a joke and jumped to fulfill his ask.

It'd be like if someone running for office and went on TV and said "Hey, mafia, if you're out there, please kill my opponent", then a day later they did. What a funny "joke" that is! Haha! Do you get it?? Do you get it??
