There is currently a Forum poll listing several of the more recent Presidential officeholders, and asking which was "the Best" on that list.

As of this thread there have been 85 votes, 32 (45%) voted for Mr. Obama.

This made me curious to know why. So my question is, aside from being the first Black American elected President (and I voted for him), what exactly did he actually accomplish while in office?

Now I am not looking for touchy-feely assertions about his moral positions, nor claims of possible future impact of his policies.

I want to hear about specific policies and legislative successes that have had a tangibly positive effect on our government and nation as a whole.

So, what were President Obama's actual accomplishments while in office that would make anyone think he was "the BEST President" since 1960? (The poll started with John F. Kennedy).

For one opinion on his failures (not mine, only provided as one opposing view) I submit this op-ed from December 13, 2016.

Bin Laden killed. That was a pretty good one.

He increased the Predator Drone strikes against families all over the Middle East and parts of Africa and killed more innocent children than ANY president in history.

Really? It happened while he was President, but that search and destroy mission had been going on almost right after 9/11 and was accomplished by the US Military, not him.

Obama greatly expanded the "safety net" and federal power/control of matters previously left up to the several states to decide, especially by use of the unfunded mandate, establishing the all important precedent to do more of that in the future.

Can we include foreign policy as it inherently relates to national security? The liberation of Somalia, 2011. Maybe his only big foreign policy success.

Anti-law enforcement sentiment.

Not possible as I am sure more children would have been killed by the US in WW2 and in the Vietnam war

Created a terrorist Vacuum in Iraq, Yemen, and Afghanistan.

Blew up Libya to protect oil for his Euro liberal pals.

Told Putin he would be more flexible after the election.

He lied about cheaper healthcare by screwing the middle class while protecting congress from the same system.

He lied about keeping your doctor.

He lied about shovel ready jobs.

He was played by Putin.

He hired a drunk as the Secretary Of State.

His Secretary of State turned her back on the Libya Ambassador requests for added security while spending millions on decorating other embassy's.

Gun running to Mexico in order to screw American gun owners.

He denied that Russia was a serious threat during the debates.

He was anti business from the start and even stated that the employer was the enemy. (from his own book)

One of his quotes...…………………..The white mans greed runs a world in need. (from his own book)

The ACA has been good for states like mine. It certainly isn't perfect, but I would put it in the win column.

Maybe read about the policy accomplishments of that administration and that era sometime? The 111th Congress in particular was arguably the most significant since the 89th and will be studied in the history books.

Those were wars.......Obama's sick murder was done outside of war......and on innocent civilians.

You did not make that distinction in the post I quoted

You mean an opinion piece in Politico?

How about YOU listing his tangible accomplishments, if you think he was so great.

Like you I lived under Mr. Obama's administration...I don't need to "read" history that hasn't been written yet.

I experienced it. I can't think of a single thing that would make him "the Best President," much less a major historical figure aside from his election.

Hence, my OP.

The stuff in there actually happened. If you lived through the era, I'm not sure how your memory wouldn't be sufficient confirmation of that.

You wanted a catalog of what he did and why it matters, there you go.

Nothing of special note, aside from allowing Gays to serve openly in the military. So...you got nothing?

Fine.

That will largely depend on your views on expanding the welfare system and the government forcing you to buy something even if you need/want it.

And your views on whether your hospital not accidentally killing you is good.

Your OP, where your argument was ... an op-ed.

Yes, revolutionizing health care, education, energy policy, averting a depression are "nothing."

Your OP, where your argument was ... an op-ed.

Yes, but only as an example of the negative view of his declared accomplishments. Not as MY opinion.

I want YOU to tell me what he did that YOU think makes him "the best President" since 1960. Unless you don't think he is, and if that is the case then there is no need to respond.

Everything depends on what perspective you are viewing it from. I view it from the perspective of increasing the number of insured people, providing subsidies to others, and creating tens of thousands of jobs. From my perspective it was a solid success.
