Even sulky Bush’s approve of Trump’s choice in SCOTUS pick

It doesn't matter how qualified you think he is. In the legal world he is inexperienced. A child. There are lots of jurists both liberal and conservative who are more qualified.

Kagan had no experience as a judge prior to appointment, Kavanaugh has 17+, your point ??

The court can't avoid being "a political instrument". The politics of the New Deal embroiled it in FDR's time, the politics of slavery and civil rights from the 1850's to the recent past, the politics of power in the early years, and justices have political leanings like everyone else.

None of the judges on the SCOTUS bench had been a judge for 53 years before being seated on the bench. What's your point?

You pointed out his age, which is 53. I'm just saying that it's not like he's been a judge that long and it isn't a qualification.

Though his age did come into the decision. At his age, he could be on the Court for 30 years.
