You bet they do. They have been engaged in dumbing down America for decades. In fact Americans of both parties were so dumb and gullibly trusting when NAFTA went into effect that they failed to see that it was purchased with stagnant wages, company pensions and decent health insurance.

We, the “Deporables”, pay the freight so Canada can have a tariff-supported socialist government and Mexico can finance its elitist, racist, white totalitarian regime by sending a brown population that it considers to be bottom feeders to overrun US borders along with hordes of asylum seeking invaders from all over the world.

Trump got in and the jig was up so the elites resorted to the third-world tactics of corrupting national security agencies like the FBI and DOJ to fabricate crimes against the state. They used FISA Warrants and Stasi-like policies to compile false charges to build a phony case for impeachment.
The educational, media and political elites here were targeting the middle class and hitting the bullseye until Trump got elected. Voters turned the tables so the elites concocted the Mueller Investigation to teach the upstart people to obey the government.

Trump's voters were only partially hoodwinked. They got the loudmouth basher of the status quo they wanted. What they didn't get was a President who promised to work for them, a President who said he would be too busy serving the forgotten to play golf or tend to his personal financial interests. Trump's voters and non voters alike didn't think he was "too dumb to be President". His lack of qualifications were, and are, his ignorance, not his intelligence, his amorality and his utter self-interest. Not all of this was apparent. Many of his less brilliant voters took him at his word and even now believe he is working for them while accepting his personal flaws. You see them at his rally crowds. We've always had them. They are like the Tea Party woman from Obama's time who carried a sign that said, "Federal Govt. Keep Your Hands Off My Medicare".

This is in many ways true but Trump supporters are not fanatics. They simply saw that the status quo had abandoned the people in favor of a grinding New World Order that sacrifices the people for the odious greater good of enriching the elites. When Trump opens his mouth it's like spraying a can of Raid on a nest of indoctrinated hornets. They are completely under the spell of a globalist Nervana that eats average citizens like Stephen King's Langoliers.
