A new low in the politicisation of foreign policy

WASHINGTON is scandalised by a report that President Donald Trump has insisted on seeing his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, one-on-one, with no witness present, during their summit in Helsinki on July 16th. Yet it seems more surprising that he could consider such a precaution necessary. To amend one of his more outlandish boasts, Mr Trump could walk down Fifth Avenue and publicly thank Mr Putin for his help in delivering him the White House and it might not cost him a vote. Of all the ways Mr Trump has altered the party of Ronald Reagan, none is more remarkable than its new complacency about Mr Putin and his ongoing effort to undermine American democracy.

The view of the upcoming summit by The Economist. Key point highlighted.

Trump/Putin horsebleep does not even make economic sense for this country. In fact, if anything Trump "economic policy" is doing its best to diminish the strength of the US economy. In treating our own economy as if it were the train wreck that is the Russian economy he actually helps us slide closer to just such a mess in this country.

MAGA is the most unmitigated cow dung ever used as pretext to the American people. Actually his current campaign message is closer to accurate "keep America Great", but surely not because of anything Trump has done these past two years. Trump is an unmitigated disaster. Could have saved us from having to deal with his nonsense up till the last quarter of ultra-nonsense. Now there is no escaping the consequences. Only a matter of time at this point.

Putin got everything he wanted when he got Trump elected. Divide the country, ruin the economy, etc.
