Fox News tops cable news ratings for 66th straight quarter

Yes, but MSNBC & CNN split the liberal viewership, so, together, they Whip Fox's butt.

What a desperate argument. :D

Like saying, "Sure Muhammad Ali was the world champ, but there were ten losers behind him and if you add them all up they could beat the **** out of him."

Might as well go further and say, "That guy won the New York marathon, but if you add the mileage run by the other ten thousand runners they went so much further than him!"

Sorry,

False equivalency.

To say fox news has the highest ratings only has the subtext to repubs because it implies there are more repubs than dems viewing news.

So, the if the subtext is the comparison is repub viewership versus dem viewership (and I think it is), my comparison is valid, yours is not.

Mine is valid because there are two groups, right versus left, but in your example, there is only one group in each example, fighters and runners, respectively, so your comparison is not equivalent.

Even if you argue there is no such subtext, then on it's face, my statement is still true, and yours is still a false equivalency.

Nice try, no Trumpy Bear.

I am a Millennial TV lover who has FIOS mostly for cable news. I tried the streamers and I would rather pay a premium for a solid (still not awesome) DVR experience rather than a cloud based one w/unskippable ads. But I'm an outlier.

DVRs are the best things that ever happened to television. About 20 minutes of every hour long TV show is commercials, so it doesn't take long for that 20 minutes to add up and eat into one's time if one is of a mind to fit television program watching into one's life.

Fox News Channel dominated cable news during the second quarter of 2018, leading all of basic cable among total viewers for the eighth straight quarter and thumping CNN in the process, according to Nielsen Media Research.

FNC has been the most-watched cable news network for 66 consecutive quarters.

Fox News averaged 1.4 million total day viewers compared to 930,000 for MSNBC and only 658,000 for CNN. During the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m., Fox averaged 2.4 million total viewers compared to 1.7 million for MSNBC. CNN failed to surpass the one-million viewers plateau during primetime – averaging an audience of only 929,000 viewers.

FNC also won both categories among the key demo of adults age 25-54, averaging 286,000 a day of those viewers and 480,000 during primetime. In the process, Fox News was home to 10 of the top 15 cable news programs in total viewers and eight of the top 15 in the coveted demo.

“Hannity” finished the quarter as the most watched program in cable news, averaging 3.4 million total viewers for his best total since returning to 9 p.m. ET. MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” finished second with an average of 2.8 million while “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “The Ingraham Angle” and “The Five” round out the Top 5.

Go Murdoch! It’s great to know that, like Trump, he’s still going strong and doing so well.

Merely evidence that conservatives are more prone than liberals to be drawn to ideological honey.

While conservatives are getting their brains numbed by Hannity, liberals are meeting with friends, going to clubs, reading books (a conservative no no) and maybe checking some porn along the way.

Another difference worth noting is that while conservatives turn to Fox during prime time in order to reassure themselves and gnash their teeth, liberals like to smile and laugh during late night tv where their comedians totally dominate.

Wrong again - as others have mentioned, Fox is heavily outnumbered by Fake News networks. Add them up and Democrats haven't much time for anything but propaganda.

It's been understood for the last century that most artists are Lefties. Show me a painter I'll show you a gay gender fluid latte-sipping socialist. Same with actors, comedians, cartoonists, etc. Why? They're not very interested in business, economics or politics. When you're not very interested in a subject, you're usually not much good at it. Unfortunately those are the same guys who make movies, TV shows, comedy shows, cartoons etc. So it's no wonder they're all crammed with left-winged nonsense.

Maybe a new Fox for younger conservatives more inclined to a libertarian view will fracture the conservative viewership.

Why should Fox come up with a Fox for younger conservatives? If I read correctly, Fox is doing quite well, and has for 66 quarters.

One would think after 15 years the left could come up with a new Fox that would appeal more to the viewers.

Wrong as usual. There are no "fake news networks" other than Fox which was known for slanted coverage long before the "Fake News" slogan was invented and all the little Trumpkins bought into it. Even MSNBC, the most liberal of the networks, features many highly intelligent conservatives. What it seldom features are pure hacks; they find their home at Fox.

If you watch the same Fox shows on YouTube and look in the comments you see plenty of millennials cursing and name calling, so they simply watch it in different media. Also, many bloggers snatch Fox news segments and discuss them on their YouTube channels, or post clips from them.

I joined this site 2 years ago, my original avatar was the Fox News logo, only it was spelled Faux News.

Fox doesn't have news, it's got ****ty Op Eds. I don't watch their News, at all, and I don't watch their other programming either. Not family guy, not American Dad, and really those are the only two shows I can think of that come on fox.

Because, I really hate fox.

And, you telling me some stupid crap about them on youtube and about comments section is pretty far out there as a response to the words I typed. That had nothing to do with Fox at all.

He is saying that millenials watch Fox News b/c Youtube channels mock the channel. He says this without realizing the reasons why YouTube channels mock Fox News, or that millenials don't actually have cable.

The observation sums up your depth nicely.

I'm up on the 89th floor remember? You need to come up from the basement to the first floor and walk around. Go out into the street. Smell the coffee. Ask a few people what's going on. Look up at the building - I'm that guy way up there checking out the view. I'm watching Lefties spraying graffiti, the gays teaching others to be like them and artists worshipping scientology, thinking they understand politics. I'm having a good laugh.

You do know there's one network for conservatives and 20 for liberals, right?

What are the 20 channels on cable television for liberals?

I meant a competitor may arise. The market is begging for it.

Like subway guy?

I always had a laugh at that because ‘faux’ rhymes with ‘flow’, so the only people who would read it as ‘fox news’ were those who couldn’t pronounce ‘faux’, making it a faux pas. If you said it on the radio for instance people would wonder what you were talking about.

Fox doesn't have news, it's got ****ty Op Eds.

News? Oh you mean when a talking head goes through a list of the day’s headlines? That doesn’t exist. Fake News turned that into a menu of propaganda. They leave out news items they don’t like and beat up the ones that suit them. Murdoch could see that, so instead of joining them he took the opportunity to simply drop it altogether. You’ll see more news on Fox than on CNN’s “nooze”.

I don't watch their News, at all,

Ah, so they DO have news…

and I don't watch their other programming either. Not family guy, not American Dad, and really those are the only two shows I can think of that come on fox.

And these.

Because, I really hate fox.

Obviously – the Left want you to hate Fox and you obey your masters. Mind you, I’m with you when it comes to The Simpsons. Never could stand that Leftist Fox cartoon. Family guy has too much left winged crap too, or at least it used to. They’re slowly wising up.

And, you telling me some stupid crap about them on youtube and about comments section is pretty far out there as a response to the words I typed. That had nothing to do with Fox at all.

Yet you can’t explain why. Millennials are good at making bland statements but not much good at explaining them. Their English teachers are to blame. Too busy teaching Marxism.

Those are the YouTubes you watch. There are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of YouTube vids that show stand-alone excerpts from Fox News, and others with channel owner commentary. Take this one for instance, a guy commenting on Fox's Family Guy mocking Millennials: Family Guy Mocks Millennials & Social Media Explained

a guy commenting on Fox's Family Guy mocking Millennials:

The creator of which just said he was embarrassed by Fox News and no longer wants to work for Fox? That Family Guy??? Great argument.

It's important to stay sober when posting. And take advice from some of the libs leaving the Democrat sinking ship
