Sen. Susan Collins Won’t Support A Supreme Court Nominee Who Opposes Roe

Lets not forget you will have at least 2-3 democrats who will vote for whoever the nominee is.

Collins needs to worry more about learning that Roe v.
Wade
isn't "settled law".

She should be voting for a nominee who knows that the court can't make law.

Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine)

Chuck Schumer has stated that Senate Democrats will not back any SCOTUS candidate currently on Trump's 'Federalist Society vetted list'.

With Senator John McCain (R/AZ) undergoing cancer treatment, the GOP has a slim 50-49 majority.

It seems to me that the SCOTUS confirmation could very well be in the hands of Republican pro-choice Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). Both voted against the GOP attempt to kill Obamacare.

Well, well. I'm not surprised one bit. I really do have to chuckle. The Republicans nominating the wacko Roy Moore in Alabama is going to haunt them for a long time. If the GOP had gone with non-wacko Strange, they still would have a 52-48 advantage with no worries about Collins or Murkowski.

The Democrats still have an outside shot of regaining the senate because of the GOP nominating wacko Moore. All it takes now is for the Democrats to win in Arizona, Nevada. Then hold on to all their seats. If the Democrats can also win Tennessee, then they could lose one of their incumbent seats, probably Indiana.

Of course the republicans have had a history of nominating wackos. 2012 saw them nominate Aiken and Mourdock, two seats they should have won easily that they lost. 2010 had Angle and O'Donnell, two more wackos. The GOP if they had a bit of common sense and stayed away from wackos sure to lose in November, they should be up 56-44 this year instead of 51-49. The GOP will never learn.

If Trump's nominee doesn't get through prior to the midterms, all one has to do is look back at all the right wing wackos they nominated. Sure winners into losers.

Prediction : enough of them will back down, and Manchin will support whoever Trump puts up. Pence won't be needed.

Collins and Murkowski will vote for Trump's nominee. The sooner everybody accepts that, the sooner we can move past the inevitable demise of RvW and think toward future strategies.

Indeed. Trump and Pence both explicitly promised they would shape a SCOTUS that will overturn Roe so there's no mystery as to where this is going. The fact that Collins is already doing her naïve yokel routine means she's gearing up to cave and then will express astonishment at the consequences down the line.

The Supreme Court won't allow abortion bans.

What they will do is rubber stamp all the red state restrictions to the point no one will be able to offer any abortions in their state.
