I have to ask, where’s the outrage?

The large majority of minors in custody of ICE were separated from their families by their families and sent here by themselves. Why no outrage over that? From all I’ve seen, parents are held completely blameless. What would happen if an American parent sent their child to a foreign country?

Who knows? Maybe they thought that by sending them here unaccompanied, they'd be taken care of and not sent back across the border without an adult with them. Sometimes parents are selfless, and do things to better the lives of their children.

I'm quite sure they never expected them to be locked up in cages.

They were? Why did those parents do that?

For the giggles?

I thought there was terrible evil in separating kids from the families. That’s not the case?

It makes perfect sense to me why people get more outraged when it is elected officials and public servants doing supposedly bad things than when it is private individuals. One group is supposed to work on our behalf, the other doesn’t.

So that separation is totally fine and has not ill effect on the child? Because I’ve been told there aren’t exceptions.

But isn’t the damage to the child that’s been cited so often recently just the same?

I did not ask about what you thought. I asked what you know about why these parents are separating their children from their families by sending them to the US alone?

Do you have any answers, or just dodges?

But to answer your question, in the 60s, my grandmother took in a number of Cuban children whose parents sent them to the US because they were afraid Castro was going to kill them

Was that evil of those parents?

I want to talk about the ill effects of separating kids from their parents. Is that not a thing any more?

I have to agree with your last sentence because the Obama administration did basically nothing
but catch and release and once released they were gone for good. I bet they were surprised when
the border patrol arrested them off to jail you go. But, but Obama did nothing!!

This takes whattaboutism to a newly stupid and dishonest extreme.

Exactly how is this outrage supposed to work?

Who is supposed to have it?

What is the parallel between Trump having ICE separate and separately detain asylum-seeking children from asylum-seeking parents in order to create a bargaining chip with which to get immigration concessions from the Democrats and families not under U.S. jurisdiction sending their children to what they see as a safer place?

And what is supposed to be done by the alleged havers of this outrage about the outrage?

People seem to be big on grand pronouncements that break down into nonsense the second one thinks about it. I doubt your idiotic post will be coherently spelled out, not any more than the other ones I've had to pick to pieces today.

Thanks for stopping by and adding nothing.

I believe the point is that parents arent just sending their children lightly. They're doing it because they feel like there is no other choice. It was probably a really hard and heartbreaking decision on their part. The outrage comes from the choice of our government to separate families when there are other options and the indiscriminate way that its being done. Keep in mind that crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor and there has always been an allowance for any law enforcement officer to use their discretion when enforcing laws.

Nobody ever said that there were no ill effects on the child. Of course they will have ill effects. Are you seriously trying to justify ripping babies out of the arms of their mothers, X? Because I thought you were better than that.

Nah, don't you get it? People who take issue with Trump's deliberately cruel separation policy are totally hypocrites for not being super-pissed at the parents who send minors to what they think is a safer place OR they're hypocrites for not being outraged about that but being outraged about Trump's deliberately cruel separation policy.

Naturally, these are two completely different things but nevermind that. Where's Teh Outrage?!

(Of course, he doesn't spell out what exactly he is saying. The idea being to say something blatantly ridiculous and obvious, then spend the next few pages acting unfairly maligned when people sniff out what he's insinuating.)

It's not about Obama, you ****ing moron. Obama is not separating babies from their parents. He is not putting babies in detention centers. Babies are being put basically in jail, and all you can ****ing say is, "What about Obama?"

I share your doubt because X is doing everything he can to avoid answering my simple question I asked in post#2

We have no real power over what parents in other countries do to their children. I don't know why you are confused that people would reserve their anger for their elected officials.

Is there some reason you're doing as much as possible to avoid explaining what exactly you are trying to say with your OP?

Really not a valid comparison.

*gasp* A voice of reason!

Welcome to the board.

And yes, to the parents sending their kids across the border for a better life, I consider this about the same as a selfless parent giving their child up for adoption. It's excruciating, but the parent is doing what's best for the child.

If you believe that, then you underestimate conservatives' tolerance for cruelty.
