I have been debating this issue with Trump Supporters for the past 2 years and they believe:

1) Trump has improved the economy
2) Tax relief has put money in their pockets
3) Deregulation has opened the door for more business
4) Immigration is the biggest problem facing us.

These issues are what has made Trump's base defend him "to the death" as they are convinced that Trump is doing a good job. Nonetheless, each and every one of these issues have to do only with economics (money) and does not address the other factors that should be important to all of us, such as pride, principles, soul and heart. Simply speaking, the Presidency should be a "total" package and not just address economics.

Trump is failing to make us better people in all ways, not only economically.

1) He only represents 40% of the population. Everyone else is disposable to him. As such, we are no longer the "United" States of America.
2) General respect for one another is not something he believes in.
3) Dictators and autocrats are his hero's. Democracy is a dirty word to him. Putin and Kim Jung-un are good people.
4) Empathy if foreign to him. He feels nothing other than his own pain.
5) He believes that Ends justify the means and that is un-American as we have always been the country that sets a "good example" to the world.
6) Hate for one another in our own population
is growing. Understanding and bi-partisanship are disappearing.

Trump is supporting all of these negative things at the cost of trying to make us economically better. Is the extra money (which is not a lot) worth losing our own principles, respect, love and understanding.

I think not.

Please read rules for breaking news - off the top of my head, the thread title has to be an the article headline, you need to have a link to that article in the OP, a quote containing part of the article, and a comment of your own about the article.

Sorry, the first four so called "positives" are all baseless assertions.

1. He inherited a good economy that was on the rise, What has he actually done to help the economy? In fact, he has done plenty like the trade war and the absurd deficit thanks to tax cuts that are predicted to harm the economy in the future. We haven't even seen what "Trumps" economy" looks like, economy moves too slowly

2. If he gave tax relieve to lower/middle class only I'd agree, but instead, he handed billions to corporations and really rich people who don't need it. The deficit alone will be damaging to the economy

3. Deregulation is not a positive, allowing companies to drill national parks and forests, and pollute, getting rid of all the consumer protection is not a good thing at all.

4. Immigration is no the biggest problem facing up, that's complete fiction by politicians and ignorant people who just want a scapegoat. Our deficit and wealth disparity is the biggest problem facing this country. And what he has done is and will do nothing to address this. Until people want to severely punish businesses that hire illegals, nothing will stop it, yes, even a stupid wall

Thanks for the clarification. First time posting.

I totally agree with you. I said in my post that I was pointing out the positive that Trump Supporters are giving. I don't personally agree with them.

Since Trump got elected (and even 6 months before when he was just the Republican candidate) I stated that he would be the "worst of the worst of all time" and I certainly have not changed my mind on that.

Nonetheless, complaining about his negatives may not be enough to stop his re-election. We actually need to change the minds of at least some of his supporters and to do that, we have to argue with them what they believe are the positives and make them see that even if they believe they are positive, they are not enough for this man to keep on being our President.

Personally, I think the Dems would do better to woo the potential voters who don't think either party has their interests in mind, by offering what they need.
And then providing it.
