"Trump’s announcement that he would end family separation follows a parade of statements by his adminstration claiming that it was outside their power to do such a thing. ..

The ACLU’s executive director, Anthony Romero, said in a statement Thursday:

“President Trump has been brought to his knees because of the lawsuit we filed on February 26 and the ensuing public outcry. Kids should not have been separated from their parents in the first place and they still don’t belong in jail. His alleged solution to a crisis of his own making is many months too late. It is a crisis that should not have happened to begin with. He has caused irreparable damage to thousands of immigrant families.

Among those putting pressure on the Trump administration to end the family separation policy were major US airlines, American Air and United."

I didn't expect this, the mood in the White House was enthusiastic. The pressure must have been too much, even for bigots.

How about that. So I guess all this wasn't the Democrats fault. Trump could have fixed this long time ago.

I'll be expecting Trump and Fox News and all those people who blame the Democrats to apologize now.

Of course I won't be holding my breath. Liars like Trump and Fox News never apologize

I've heard one option is to ignore the detention time limit for minors allowing the family to stay together in detention facilities.

Will be interesting to see the fix

Wow... so Mr. Never Apologize trump, Ms. "we aren't separating families" Nielsen, and Jeffersen Beauregard Sessions couldn't stay the course even with Fox News working overtime to protect and throw cover for them with their wall of blatant ever-changing lies.

I'm sure there will be a declaration of victory and condemnation of Democrats for this at the same time.

this is typical Trump LYING his ass off, as usual ................

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!!!!!

I thought there was a law which forced him to separate those kids?????? :doh:roll:

I thought Trump maintained the Congress had to fix this?????

This president is so full of crap that flowers must spring up magically in his footsteps as he passes.

Why anyone who is sane and rational defends him is beyond comprehension.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!!!!!

A law that DEMANDED at least 10 democrats had to vote to overturn!!!!!!

****ing liars.

You'll never know how far you can go until you've gone too far.

I'm kinda relieved there actually is a "too far".

That is a good point. For the first time Trump found out that he could fart up the room and some people would actually complain about the reek instead of pretending fresh cut flowers had been brought in. Hopefully, this will be a lesson he remembers when he pops off about pardoning himself or firing Rosenstein or Mueller. That reaction would make this look like small potatoes in comparison.

Perhaps Trump will make another EO declaring the immediate end to all illegal immigration - the ultimate MAGA win via immigration reform. The EO would grant a 'path to citizenship' to any foreign national that attests to being a generally good person that has lived in the US for at least 15 minutes.

Barring multiple serious felony convictions within the last three months, the requirement to pass a citizenship test or speak any English will be waived - that level of 'extreme vetting' should pass muster with a even a few demorats and most independents assuring the republicants an easier time in the 2018 elections.

Its not a law but a federal 9th court section of appeals case.

Trump kept saying it was a law and only Congress could change it and the Democrats were responsible for it. HE LIED.

I'm kinda surprised they ran with this when there is so much factual proof that they were just blatantly lying.

The first rule of persuasion is never tell a direct lie.

And I'm quite sure avoiding imagery of crying, caged children is covered in Communications 101.

And keep in mind they would not even allow the cameras into those Trumpville prisons so we could see the maximum visuals of heartbreak.

An EO should be enough.

Hey, KJU went from crazy rocket man with nukes to great man who loves his people during a 20 minute meeting. Trump is a god. #MAGA, again!

I am surprised Trump signed it... interesting.

The previous fix was 'catch and release'.

I am surprised Trump signed it... interesting.

What is interesting will be the next few days ... will the left now shut up about illegals entering or will they find another angle to harp about "those poor 'immigrants'".

Yep, who needs a congress when the POTUS (king or queen?) can simply issue EOs (serving as the law of the land) and make 'deals' instead of treaties? One possible issue may be that Trump has changed his mind on many issues in the span of a few tweets but, other than that, it should work fairly well.

I am dying to see how his true believers assimilate the undeniable fact that he and his lied right to their faces.

Not even with the usual amount of wiggle room and clever wording that provides an out.

Declarative language, with mountains of evidence it was all lies already available when they did it.

I posted an article from frontline from February (before sessions signed the order) laying out the trump administrations systematic dismantling of protections for minors starting shortly after his inauguration.

First page of my first search.

Popcorn time!

They will not care if he lied to the nation. They excuse everything he does. Trump was spot on about saying he could kill somebody on Fifth Avenue and still not lose votes.

If Trump was found in bed having sex with a three foot midget, he could say he was trying to "cut down" and his Trumpkins would buy it.

Amazing, he actually has a point.

I may faint, somebody call 911!

Yeah, the way we treat women and children fleeing for their lives was pretty bad before Trump. You won't find anyone saying it isn't a problem. The difference is in the acknowledgement of responsibility and the moral imperative to treat people fairly. Like the judge said, the one who was going to give the administration another piece of his mind.
