The FBI is rotten. The only question is, how rotten?

The Department of Justice inspector general identified a number of instances where FBI employees regularly spoke with members of the media and received a number of free perks from journalists including meals and tickets to various events.

On page XII in the report, the IG says the department “identified numerous FBI employees, at all levels of the organization and with no official reason to be in contact with the media, who were nevertheless in frequent contact with reporters.”

Maybe these cats will flip and tell us just how deep the conspiracy goes.

The Justice Department inspector general has referred five FBI employees for investigation in connection with politically charged texts, revealing in its report on the Hillary Clinton email case that more bureau officials than previously thought were exchanging anti-Trump messages.

I watched wrays press conference and i found him to be unapologetic and defiant of the agency's criticisms.

I dont believe there will be any significant accountability or reform taking place with him at the top. Trump made a mistake appointing him to that position. He is another swamp critter.

This really should be concerning to pretty much anyone, but, instead it’s characterized as attacking the rule of law or attacking law enforcement. I think that’s because there are a decent amount of people who think that trying to prevent a Trump presidency was justified whatever the means.

I found just the opposite...
Btw, I think the IG report speaks volumes. The FBI during 2016, and up until Mueller threw Strzok off his team, was out of control with power but Wray was right, it was limited to a handful.

I'm sorry, trix, but I feel the same about Wray as trouble does. I watched the first few minutes and then had to turn it off.
Wray emphazised the conclusion of the report that no political bias of the FBI could be determined, however, with the same breath he said that FBI agents will have to undergo a non-political bias program. Wray has a screw lose ...

I see what you are saying and why you are concerned, but the IG report more or less gave Wray an easy out when they determined that they could not prove that they acted with political bias. I am surprised the IG did not say there was clearcut bias. IMO... There most certainly was bias displayed by anti-Trump boy, Peter Strzok and his gf.

I suspect most of the leaks were coming from the NY field office...they hated Hillary. I also suspect they were advising Comey about Weiner's emails and leaked directly to Guilliani about Comey's October Surprise announcement....

"....F.B.I. agents still tend to be white males. In a way, this situation is systemic: to be promoted, you have to be willing to relocate, which can be difficult for women with children. A current agent also says that there’s a strong conservative bent: if a TV is on in an F.B.I. building, it’s likely to be Fox News.

But even within the F.B.I., there are tensions. “There are three F.B.I.’s,” this agent tells me. “There are the [56] field offices, there’s [headquarters in] Washington, and then there’s [the field office in] New York.”

Often, a retired agent says, those in the field are suspicious of Washington. “Dreamland,” they called it in his day, because they believed those who weren’t on the ground investigating cases were clueless. “[Agents] out in the field never want to give a case to D.C., because they believe headquarters is a hindrance to their investigations,” says the agent, who also notes there is a paranoia that politics might interfere at headquarters. New York has an especially dim view of Washington and a reputation for fierce independence. “There is a renegade quality to the New York F.B.I.,” says a former prosecutor, which, he claims, can take the form of agents leaking to the press to advance their own interests or to influence an investigation. “New York leaks like a sieve,” concurs another former prosecutor..."

Comey made the decision to run the investigation out of D.C., not New York, despite the fact that Clinton and her server were in New York. A core group of investigators and analysts were vetted and given security clearance, meaning that only those who were working on the case knew what they were doing.

Comey chose Washington because he wanted to be close enough to get daily updates, according to CNN, but he may also have been worried about leaks from New York. A former D.O.J. official says that, as early as 2015, a rumor was floating around that the F.B.I. agents in New York were cracking jokes about seeing Hillary Clinton in handcuffs. “It was widely understood that there was a faction in that office that couldn’t stand her and was out to get her,” this person says...."

Too bad the agents didn't say it in an email.

The "conclusion" of the report contradicts the actual report findings as there are several incidents in the report that show a clear political bias; it almost seems as if the actual report and the conclusion of the report were written by 2 totally different entities.

If it was limited to a handful why does he feel the need to give everyone sensitivity training? What is that going to fix

That's your story...that you don't like the report because it doesn't agree with you?
Maybe a 2nd investigation is needed since this one isn't as partisan as you had hoped? Kind of like that IRS scandal investigation, where after 2 investigations, they still found no politically motivated misdeeds.

Pathetic.

The FBI controls the media. It's far more than just a corrupt few in collusion with the press. It's all of them. Every thing we see on the news is approved of by the powers that be. See the CIA program, "Project Mockingbird" for more information...

Seriously? Why not try to rebuild the FBI's shattered reputation?

Wray added that the FBI will require employees to undergo training, including instruction "on what went wrong so these mistakes will never be repeated." He said the bureau will emphasize "the importance of objectivity, of avoiding even the appearance of personal conflicts or political bias in our work."

The FBI director also said he has tapped the bureau's associate deputy director "to lead a review of how the FBI handles sensitive investigations."

We know you love conspiracy theories.

Mueller's report will be released. The facts will be the facts.
