It was -- and, for some odd reason -- it offended me. He was talking about his then-fiance Katie Holmes and his behavior was just ugly. Perhaps the fault is all on my side, but I have never been able to get it out of my mind.

I am currently having that problem with watching Jon Hamm....when ever I do all my brain can do is go "DON DRAPER!".

I gotta go to bed....my brain is foggy...Nighty Nite....

Not a bandwagon I tend to jump on.

I admire DeNiro's acting and films. Whether he is admirable as a person or not, I don't know and can't say. I don't know much about him on a personal basis.

That's how I am about most actors, actresses, singers, musicians and entertainers. I enjoy their art without idolizing the PERSON. I don't know much about them as a person, and experience has taught me I really don't WANT to know, as it may interfere with my ability to enjoy their ART.

Truth, most Hollywood types are not admirable people in their personal lives.

Me, I just enjoy their movies and try real hard to ignore them when they say ignorant things about politics, society, policy, etc.

DeNiro may be a good actor. What act of bravery is it to stand in front of people who basically admire each other more than anything and foul mouth a sitting president. A person of class and character wouldn't do that.
I find it interesting though that the left snickers about a boycott, except when they want to pressure someone into thinking their way.
People can do what they want. They can eat at ChickfilA, shop at Hobby Lobby or Starbucks, and watch movies or not. It is all good. It is a matter of free speech, not a matter of being right wing idiocy ( as some have suggested) We can't have it both ways.

Well the hyperpartisans will hyperpartisan, it's always like that around here. Boycotts are stupid except of the Boy Scouts and Chik-Fillet. (/irony)

I didn't listen to DeNiro's rant. I'll grant you it required no courage; it was a slam-dunk in that audience, and no it was not a classy thing to do.

I didn't care enough to hear it, any more that I want to hear my doctor's opinion about whether my truck needs a new transmission. :)

So, Tom Cruise falls madly in love and does a backflip and that disgusts you? You weren't disgusted by his enthusiastic support of Scientology?

I find Scietology to be really disturbing but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy Tom Cruise movies. I'm not a fan of his recent work but he's had so many classic movies. I can separate the performer from the performance.

I'm pretty sure I didn't hear about the Scientology until later, but, it's a tad odd, nothing that would prevent me from watching his movies though. And, had he done a back flip, I might have been slightly impressed. But, he didn't -- he did something ugly and it got stuck in my mind.

De Niro's 75 and has plenty of laurels upon which to rest. What he said at the Tony's, however, is indefensible. This wasn't the time or the place, and really, is there ever a public time or place to just f-bomb somebody?

Half the audience enjoyed a meaningless feel-good moment, so good for them. Count me among those shaking their heads at the increasing coarseness of public behavior. :(

American Made was a good flick Cruise did more recently. But he's more of an anit-Hero role in that movie.

I think both sides are converging on a certain level of thin-skinned reactions. Soon we won't be able to have anything because everything will upset someone out there.
