Time To Wipe Einstein Out Of The History Books

That's the trouble with you guys. You listen too much to what comes out of Trump's mouth. What matters is what actually happens to the country and Trump is doing a great job.

This is the first time in my memory that a President's supporters are saying to pay no attention to what says.

No, he was racist as a young man who later in life changed his views AND spoke out against it.

The vast majority of those who are lucky enough to live for decades change many of our beliefs over time. A person’s life can’t be captured in a single snapshot at any single point in their life. It is more like a film that has be taken in its entirety.

How true. Too bad we cannot learn to forgive and forget. I know too many people who got in trouble early in life and never allowed back into society. This is one of the biggest pit falls of a lot of the poor people and of certain races who do not have the money or political clout to have things squashed.

I've spoken several times about the problem with applying modern scruples to historical figures.

Einstein was born about 1880. OF COURSE he was "racist" (by modern standards) in the 1920s, it was as common as drinking water. So was Lincoln.

But at least later in life he repudiated racism.

and remove every statue, sculpture, etc of him from the face of the Earth.
Hard pass. People change. A German man born in 1879 harboring some prejudices isn't some extraordinary revelation to those of us who bothered to pretend to study history between hangovers in college. Einstein's later public and private thoughts bear out his evolution. Unlike many of the jackals confederate apologists venerate, Einstein changed--particularly after the monstrosities of the holocaust.

The secessionists (or seccesh, as my granddady called them) got worse with age--up to and including their instigation of a treasonous war to preserve the institution of slavery in this country.

So, he was a racist who spoke out against racism ...

Sort of like ... "I was for it before I was against it."

No sorta like he learned from experience and grew up. Unlike our current 5 deferment cadet bone spurs asshole and chief.

Many of us were stupid and did stupid things when young. One of my biggest concerns with this new generation of kids is they are often saying and doing thes stupid things on the internet for their stupidity to be preserved for all time.

That's ridiculous. A racist would not speak out against racism.

As I quoted above:

Einstein gave a speech in which he called racism “a disease of white people,” and added, “I do not intend to be quiet about it.”

-snip-

Einstein, who was Jewish, was sensitized to racism by the years of Nazi-inspired threats and harassment he suffered during his tenure at the University of Berlin. Einstein was in the United States when the Nazis came to power in 1933, and, fearful that a return to Germany would place him in mortal danger, he decided to stay, accepting a position at the recently founded Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, N.J. He became an American citizen in 1940.

Sometimes it takes experiencing a great wrong to speak out against it. Read the rest of the article. The man was not a racist later in his life.

Nothin' new...there have been racists all throughout our history...it was the thing to do back then...hate Indians, hate Germans, hate Japanese, hate Chinese, hate blacks...our country is built on hate...

No, Leftist have always used hate and racism to gain political power. Today they just use it from the opposite direction, replacing traditional racism with racial identity politics.

Although America is far from perfect it's still the greatest most noble nation in all human history.

Like I said ... "I was for it before I was against it."

Einstein changed. He rejected hate and embraced his fellow man. You're being disingenuous about it for some weird reason in equating it to a vote John Kerry once made in the senate.

Whatever, carry on.

The claim is apparently "political flip flop". In other words, the change was a facade.

What purpose does such a claim serve?

It seems like this is really about the Confederate statues. I have a question that I doubt you'll answer:

The Confederates renounced the United States and its flag. They created their own flag and fought and killed fellow American. All because of political differences.

The NFL players kneeled during the anthem. A kneeling gesture suggested by a veteran as a show of respect instead of sitting. They kneeled because of political differences.

Isn't it contradictory to honor Confederate soldiers and attack NFL players? How do you hold these two contradictory ideas in your mind?

Everyone was racist and anti semetic in the 1920s by today's standard...you should read some of the stuff Churchill wrote and many other famous people back then.

Just wait and see what people think of us 100 or 1000 years from now.

Answer: none. It's not comparable to Einstein's moral change of heart.

Everyone is racist today because the word 'racist' now means you don't like someone who is a member of a different race. "Racism" began life with a very different meaning, but the word has evolved through misuse. Since all it means now is that anyone who dislikes someone from a different race is a racist, it means every human on earth is a racist.

This is the first time in my memory that a President's supporters are saying to pay no attention to what says.

I'm not a Trump supporter. But, I understand Trump. He was elected to do a job and he is doing it and he's doing it extremely well. The left gets all crazy over what comes out of Trump's mouth and his tweets. That's just the way Trump is. I judge him by results, not by all the stupid crap that comes out of his mouth. The stupid crap doesn't matter. Results do. The left hates Trump and loves using all the crap that comes out of Trump's mouth for fuel to throw on the fire. In fact, Trump is a master magician. He loves firing things out of his mouth to get all his detractors running around like chickens with their heads cut off while he's actually doing something with his other hand, and your side is too stupid to figure out what he's doing. He's playing you and you fall for it every time.

Sorry, you're not a Trump supporter. Also, I'm the Queen of England.

Did Albert Einstein commit treason? Did he murder US troops? Did he conduct acts of terrorism? Did he enslave Americans?

No?

Then there is no equivalence between him and your Confederate heroes.

My confederate heroes were Americans. Even Lincoln wanted Reconstruction and not to rub their noses in their defeat. They were Americans both before and after the war.

Pence never said that, so stop spreading lies.

No, Pence just tried to make it a level-six felony for gay people to apply to for a wedding license (not get married, just APPLY to get married) in the state of Indiana..........and he tried to divert federal funding for HIV treatment in Indiana away from medical care and into "gay conversion therapy" programs being that were popular in evangelical circles, which claimed to "fix" homosexual people by making them heterosexual.

So, don't worry, there are a LOT of reasons to view Mike Pence as a despicable person and a disgrace to his faith (and indeed the very Bible to which he professes such faith). But you're absolutely correct...just because Donald Trump says something does NOT make it true.

I hope you have learned that lesson today.

You have to admit, though..........the IRONY of seeing Trumpsters complain about "spreading lies" that came directly from the mouth of their dear leader, is certainly RICH. Wouldn't you agree?

And look what that got him---nothing but a bullet and a South determined to continue brutally oppressing Americans.

The South were traitorous thugs who terrorized innocent Americans. They got crushed---just like they deserved.
