The consensus is that Kim Jong-un is the main winner after that summit

^^ that and that

Of course Kim and Xi have figured out the secret of talking to a particular someone like that.

Just beam with gratitude at being in his presence.

Die hard anti-Trumpers and partisan liberals are decrying the event and calling Kim Jong-Un the winner. Die Hard Trumpers are calling Trump the winner. Most rational people are pointing out the U.S. gave little to nothing of value tangibly (as military exercises aren't a continually ongoing thing and can be spun back up at any time as needed) and that we're in a very skeptical "wait and see" moment and thus it's "too soon to tell".

The "consensus" you speak of exists only within the anti or pro-Trump bubbles and no where else.

It's the same "concensus" bubble that was hooting, hollering, and chastising weeks ago about how Trump torpedoed the talks and they wouldn't happen now and he had just got played when Kim backed out, only to come back wanting it again. Strangely, those that formed the consensus that the talks were doomed previously didn't bother to truly acknowledge their mistake and just moved onto the mindless call of "THIS WAS BAD" once it did happen.

If we actually ease up on sanctions or god forbid actually start providing them money with little to no long term tangible demotion of their nuclear program or short term tangible progress, then by all means this would be a win for NK. But with what little we actually agreed to "Give up", mixed with potentially what it is getting in return, it's a low risk high reward concept for the U.S. Whether it works out or if it's a "good" thing or we "won" is something that's not going to be able to be reasonably declared by any rational thinking people until time has passed and more information about what actually happens is actually able to be reviewed.

Actually since most folks have a brain most folks contended that the talks would still go forward even before it was verified that they would mainly because both Trump and KJU had too much to gain from it.

This is all theater. It was always all theater from the moment Trump started poking the bear and the bear poked back. The most obvious sign that this was all theater......months of preparing the ground for this grand event and five hours later.......trump declares us all safe. Actually we are just as safe or just as much at risk from a KJU attack on June 13 as we were on June 11 and that risk was and is damned little. This has been a fabricated, made for TV national emergency and nothing more.

The next thing I expect in all honesty is a "defector" leaving NK claiming that KJU was at one point moments away from pulling the trigger. We are a joke. We have become a card carrying joke...particularly my generation of complete idiots. We have become a generation divided in the main into two groups:
1) utter and complete snowflake doves running around with their hair on fire every day convinced that this day will be their last because somebody somewhere is going to do them in
2) Absolute armchair hawks, remote in hand railing that we should bomb the f--kers to perpetuity also with their hair on fire every day. Never spent a day in combat, not a day guarding the line anywhere but by God they are ready to blow them away...who is THEM....almost anybody!

Kim gained what he and his father and grandfather wanted for years - equivalence with the United States, praise from the United States, adoration from the US President, and someone saying publicly that he was a great, wonderful, smart, good man who loves his people.

The fact that you don't even realize this doesn't reflect well on you. Either you have no clue about history, or you are just so enamored of Trump that he could call someone in your family a disgusting slut and you'd thank him for his wise words.
News to me the kim is now thought to be the leader of the free world. That must of been some meeting.

Trump gave away diplomatic recognition North Korea never before enjoyed.

Trump gave away all but heroic praise to a man who consolidates his power by murdering his relatives and starving his people.

Trump gave away the war games North Korea, China and Russia have been objecting to for years.

It was Kim who gave away nothing.
Kim is giving up his nukes thats hardly nothing.

Just a note about the military excercises. We do them twice a year. We just did one and the next one would not happen unti the fall. It was a meaningless gesture at this time. Trump gave kim nothing significant but allowed kim to save face

And as for the generation of Americans just next in line from mine, based on what I see of them...they are worse still even than mine.

According to the book "Generations" these folks would be approaching 50. This is very likely the most overmedicated, twitchy generation of Americans ever to approach that milestone.

"Fifty...fifty. oh my...fifty is supposed to be the new 40. Some even say its the new 35. Do I feel like 40 or do I feel like 50. Worse, do I feel like 55.....ahhhhhhh....Hair on fire....hair on fire. Calm down...calm down....take a pill....maybe a pill and a drink.......but I'm driving what do I do....what do I do!!!!"

Idiots....a nation of idiots. God willing the millennials will fair better than we have.

You're the one said something about the leader of the free world. Why don't you go on a wild goose chase for clips confirming what you said.

Then while you're at it, read my post again, pull out a dictionary, don't interject your own idiotic words, and have fun.

Just saw another idiot network analyst pretending she knows something that matters. This one still wearing a graduation gown. Must be part of a faculty somewhere or gave the speech to a graduating class somewhere.

This one touting Trump's offerings of economic prosperity to KJU. She claims KJU wants to turn his country into an economic powerhouse as if that is some sort of news. Of course he does. But his family regime has survived internally on maintaining nationwide institutionalized poverty. They are poor. Their parents were poor. their grandparents were poor, some of them in labor camps. The sort of jolt idiot Trump and this idiot analyst want to purpose would simply lurch that country into anarchy. KJU would lose control and thousands would die. You don't let a starving man gorge himself because he will literally eat himself to death. KJU will move his country slowly forward if at all forward.

KJU has time. He is only 34 years old and he knows the very worst thing he could do would be to inject too much money, too many freedoms, too much 21st century life into that country too quickly. He does not want anything like an American style society anyway, even if 20 years from now. At best he wants something along the lines of China and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, that is what China wants for NK as well.

Trump leaving Air Force 1 back from Singapore. NO TIE as he departs the plane. Learning from Rep. Jim Jordan I see.

"Oh, I really knocked myself out for you people. I left it all on that negotiating table. I'm so tired. Please grant me this one little modest gesture to my exhaustion."

What a joke. How many times have we seen him suit, button down shirt, no tie since becoming President?

Kim is giving away vague promises. He didn't say say when - this year, next year or when he's 90, and he didn't say how - perhaps expecting us to take his word for them being gone.

How will Trump respond to the widely held view that Kim won a major victory and Trump gave up vital leverage for a photo op?

What did Kim "win"?

Thats true but trump can take away everything he put on the table and he can add mote sanctions and there is still the military threat available. If kim renigs he will pay a price and he knows it. Kim can either willingly surrender his nukes or he can lose them by force, his choice. Either way he isnt going to a nuclear state much longer.

Allowing him to take a victory lap over a photo OP is fine with me if it avoids us being forced to use our military or further hurt the innocents caught in the middle.

Legitimization as a nuclear state and disgusting praise from a sitting president, while giving-up nothing in return.

Three hostages are nothing to you?

How can he be legitimized as a nuclear state while agreeing to denuclearize?

Wolf Blitzer today:

They are a legitimate nuclear state and that's not trumps fault. Your mad at the guy who is trying to do something about it.

There’s this thing called diplomacy, you may have heard of it...

We’re trying to broker a peaceful settlement, that involves sucking up a little bit, I doubt Churchill and Roosevelt went to Yalta calling Stalin a paranoid mass murderer...

LOL So now Kim is our ally? That is what the USSR was in WWII. They were our ally against the Nazi's. What is our common enemy with NK now?

Trump has declared that NK is no longer a nuclear threat. So shut up and get back to work, Minion.

What he isnt telling you is how defines the best. I'm sure it includes trump getting blamed and not getting praised.

That's been conceded from North Korea before without giving them the prestige of a summit.

Because they gave absolutely no specifics or timeline, much in the same regard as previous agreements. All they agreed to do in principle, was to hold further talks.

The North will never give-up their weapons after seeing what happened in Iraq, Libya, and the Ukraine.
