Rosenstein plans to call on House to investigate its own staff

Upon learning of the matter, I thought Rosenstein was likely considering the advice of two authors:

In some situations, if you say nothing, you are called dull; if you talk, you are thought impertinent and arrogant. It is hard to know what to do in this case. The question seems to be, whether your vanity or your prudence predominates.
-- William Hazlitt, Selected Essays, 1778-1830

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: Oh Lord, make my enemies ridiculous. And God granted it.
-- Voltaire

He works for the American people. Not so sure that our President is though.

Good thing the thread is not about him then, huh? Can we keep it that way? Thanks.

The Mueller investigation is, has been and continues to be a counter-intelligence investigation. Rosenstein initiated it and supervises it.

Rosenstein said he plans to ask the House General Counsel Thomas Hunger to investigate the certain staff members of the Intelligence Committee who are involved. This is a proper procedure and practice by the DoJ and by Rosenstein. Indeed while the vast number of professional staff in the Congress take no oath, certain congressional staff do take an oath. Members of the Intelligence committees are among the few who do take the oath. We know that a long term Senate Intelligence committee staff officer in charge of committee security just got indicted for leaks and violating his oath. These guys are not above the law. Despite Mr. Hunger being appointed by Speaker Ryan we'll need to have trust and confidence in the House general counsel and his staff to do the job. If Hunger might decline to investigate then we'll have to take it from there.
They should start their investigation at Adam schiff

Lying about providing leaks when he wuz the guy in charge of security at the Senate Intelligence Committee. There are partisans here who are just as bad with the facts as Trump is but you're in the wrong forest on this one. So you'd need to check your political positioning system.

Why? I said he lied to the FBI . That is the crime. True he lied about leaking. He is not charged with leaking. Not sure that is a crime. That is what I meant.

There is a big difference between liberals and progressives. So my political positioning is correct. The question is really if Boomer aged liberals fit in the same party a Millennials.

Disclosing classified knowledge is a crime. Lying to FBI investigating it is a crime. The Senate security guy on the Intel committee who is indicted for lying to FBI will get it either way or both ways. It's like Eliot Ness working for the US Attorney in Chicago nailing Al Capone for tax evasion. That is, the families of a lot of dead guys in Chicago got some sense of justice from it -- even if they themselves might have been behind bars.

I'd suggest also that your political positioning system needs a realignment to identify and locate a Republican Party dominated by Putinphiles. Y'know, the rightwingers who want the majority of us in the USA to be dragged kicking and screaming into the Putin model of government, society, economy and civilization. In other words your focus on Democratic party petty internals instead means your political positioning is flawed. Seriously so.

I'd add that disclosing classified knowledge to the enemy is a crime unless you happen to be President Trump. Potus can declassify anything for any reason. We recall vividly Trump did it in the oval office with no other American present. He handed the hot stuff over to the Russian ambassador and the Russian foreign minister. There were only Russian media present which is the only way we in the public found out about it. Trump can lie freely to you and I however, Trump lying to Mueller is the more serious crime from which a potus owned by a foreign power has no escape.
