1) Yes Europe pays only 2.5% tariff on cars made in Europe and exported. Problem is that most European cars sold in the US, are made in the US, and those that are made in Europe and sold to the US are already considerably more expensive due to US regulations that are designed to increase costs for importers of cars... hence why European and other car companies tend to make the popular models in the US.
2) The 10% tax on US cars to Europe is also as irrelevant as the above, since most US cars sold in Europe, are made in Europe. On top of that, a car made in the US is un-sellable in Europe because of higher fuel consumption requirements and so on... not to mention taste. Europeans like small cars that go far on the gallon.. not big gas guzzlers. The only ones really hit here, are car enthusiasts that want to buy a muscle car or something similar, that is not already made in Europe and frankly.. who cares they can afford the extra 10%
3) Again most US car manufactures who sell cars in China, make them in China. So a 25% tax is basically only relevant to specialised cars and anyone buying such a car can afford it.
But it is funny how none of the American abuses are mentioned in this debate. For example, ownership of airlines, media and other industries can only be done by... Americans. Where as in Europe those restrictions are not at present being used. That is why Rupert Murdoch had to become an American citizen, because he wanted an American news channel. That is why Branson could not start Virgin up in the US without signing over most of the company. The list goes on. Or the illegal subsidising of Boeing and other American companies... funny how that never enters the debate eh?
That Singapore meeting can go poof still and he will accomplish nothing there. North Korea aint afraid of him or the US and only listen to the true power in the east.. China. It is China that wants the meeting and to use it to further humiliate Trump and the US.
