Just heard that Trump canceled his meeting with the dictator of North Korea. I think that the idea was good, but not this meeting, so I am glad it was canceled. Trump was never going to be prepared for such a meeting and the meeting would have accomplished nothing. Like most of the stuff that Trump has come out with, there was never the preparation prior to such a meeting that would have enabled us to get anything accomplished and it would have made us look worse than we already do before the rest of the world. So no Nobel Peace Prize, but in my mind a good decision to cancel this meeting.

Someone better check on the Freedom Caucus members. This is going to cause them to cry, clutch their hearts, tear out their hair, and have meltdowns.

This is right on time. China had been intervening, North Korea had gotten a little more demanding, North Korea pulled a stunt claiming they may pull out, and so Trump had to take the control back. This is perfect strategy at a perfect time. I fully expect the Singapore Summit to happen. The date may change, the location may change, maybe neither changes, but this summit will happen.

True - but at least it cannot make their mental state any worse than it already was.

To be fair the NPP is a bit of a sham. Alfred Nobel invented explosives, so he set up the prize as a way to make up for all the people who died by his invention. He also said that if war wasn't ended 100 years after he set it up then it would be pointless to go on with it.

I believe a summit will happen at some point. But not predicated on the speedy victory nor even on the nature of the victory that Trump was peddling. That was never going to happen. That was doomed from the start. Trump quickly accepting the meeting and shoving the S. Korean diplomates out onto the WH driveway now looks naive and a billowing sail of self aggrandizement which is what it was.
