All the plans to fight homelessness only attracted more homeless. That’s the reality behind the mysterious massive increase in the homeless population. Whether it’s in Los Angeles or New York, when lefties begin a major campaign to fight homelessness, the number of homeless suddenly increases.

Most homeless people have a choice: live on the street were they can do whatever they want or get a minimum wage job, or live in a shelter, and follow the rules. Make it easier to live on the street and that's what they will do.

Unemployment is at an all time low, but homelessness in LA has doubled in the last 6 years. The cost of programs for the homeless has skyrocketed, and the taxes to pay for that have been increased.

I say: Leave LA, leave California before the homeless, the government bureaucrats, the teacher's unions, and all the feel good programs eat all of your substance. Leave them to rot.

These are mostly people with mental issues brought about by alcohol and/or drug abuse. They cannot be functioning members of society. I say mostly, because only about 3% of these people ever re-enter society as productive citizens. No, I'm not going to post "proof", since I have had many personal experiences with homeless people. Friends of mine were these people...they all died from overdoses or from illnesses related to their habits...HIV, Hepatitis, etc. There are no answers to these peoples problems. We just need to see them for what they are and realize that they will always be among us.

Look at the countries that spend very little in their homeless.....would you want to live there?

Unemployment compensation for capitalism's natural rate of unemployment, would be more effective.

I'm not sure homelessness can be incentivized. Correlation =/= causation.

Under our form of Capitalism? We could abolish public homelessness, with recourse to unemployment compensation on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States.

I think the solution is more about mental healthcare than funding. No one wants to come to terms with the number of people that need real, not monetary, help.

Throw money at the problem to make it go away... because it's worked so great up to this point.

If the Trump administration can find $700 billion for the Pentagon and incur a $1.5 trillion deficit for their tax giveaway to the wealthy, they can certainly set aside some funding for America's homeless.

So liberals are making people live on the streets because....

Sorry, I don't see the upside to it. Do they make a habit of showing up and voting for Democrats? If anything, living on the street and doing whatever you want seems like a very "libertarian" way of living. So what you're saying is that as a libertarian, you don't think people should be able to make their own choices?

there is a perfect storm happening right now in CA.

L.A.'s homelessness surged 75% in six years. Here's why the crisis has been decades in the making

if you remove CA LA county from the mix homeless actually has dropped.
the tech boom and high salaries have driven up the cost of housing.

which is expected.

We allege to subscribe to Capitalism as a "first clause"; we should not ignore it, like the right wing is wont to do with the first clause of our Second Amendment.

You misunderstand the nature of the solution; "full employment of capital resources" is the goal. Equal protection of the law, is the method.

What could go wrong, if Persons can apply for unemployment compensation on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States?

I'm not familiar with the term.

I don't believe capitalism causes homelessness. We find it in every circumstance. Are socialist measures capable of addressing the issue? Yes, but not by throwing money at it/them. The country needs a mental healthcare awakening. School shootings are another issue where our lack of mental healthcare infrastructure is exposed.

I think you are correct but we have to get these people off our streets both for their own good and the good of others. What that would entail is what we need to figure out. Just sticking them in some sort of government provided house is not the answer.

Yep. It started back in the 70's when the mental institutions started closing and the new answer was to give everyone a pill. It failed miserably.

It is a result of Capitalism's, natural rate of unemployment. Consider that even in an economy where all potential labor market participants were required to obtain a doctorate before entering the labor market, would still have issues with a natural rate of unemployment.

We allege to subscribe to Capitalism. Concepts matter.

I'm absolutely fed up with the ridiculous notion that people are wholesale incentivized to be homeless and unemployed. Just from a position of pure intuition it doesn't even make any ****ing sense. It's always better to have a job than no job in the long run, and it's always better to have a roof over your head than not. Blaming the social safety net for homelessness is like blaming bandaids for cuts.

Half measures Are incentive under Any form of Capitalism.

The natural rate of unemployment is not caused by capitalism. But I agree it should be effectively addressed and our current system is wanting.

Here are the capital parameters, some on the left claim won't work under Any form of Capitalism as a private profit motive for Individuals:

Capital is Privilege under our form of Capitalism.

Look at the countries that spend very little in their homeless.....would you want to live there?

Okay genius...what's the answer? More money? For what? How will it be implemented? Doing something for the sake of doing something is a waste of money.

Yes, it is for the capital benefit of Capitalists', bottom line, not Labor's bottom line. Compensation for Capitalism's natural rate of unemployment, solves for that equality inducing, natural rate of unemployment.

Economic privilege exists, and I don't mean the ability to buy nice stuff. I mean majority privilege. In an illustration that the majority in question is power, the 1% enjoy majority privilege. That is, they are given breaks or treated fairly when the average Joe is not.

Utopia aside, an economic majority power privilege will exist in any society. The majority seeks to perpetuate disproportionate power. It's just a selfish aspect of human nature.

I don't find homelessness or economic privilege a result of capitalism. These are results of human society and the issues can be addressed from both sides of the economic aisle.

How do you constitutionally get people off the streets who don't consent to going? That is the main problem. Now, if we can gather enough legislators to change the constitution considerably, (and it would cost all of us some of our rights), it could be done. Now, if you're like me, and firmly stand by your constitutional protections, we have to realize that there is no fix. We have to do the best we can constitutionally to deal with them. San Francisco for instance, simply allows for them to live on the streets, shooting up, setting up encampments, pooping and pissing all over the place...all while being given free needles, etc. They seem to deal with it.
