Do you personally subscribe to Trump's "Never apologize" philosophy?

Integrity means you have a set of values and take personal responsibility for your own behavior.

Your comment basically boils down to blaming people for your behavior. They're not "decent" people so I don't need to apologize shows a lack of integrity.

Taking responsibility for ones behavior does not mean making apologies. Apologies are an act of submission, no one is owed your submission, only you decide who is worthy of such.

It makes no sense to show submission to people who demand it so they can destroy you

Ridiculous, you apologizer every day. When you bump into someone and even the most trivial interactions. It's a way of communicating that you only have good intentions.

When you bump into people, you don't apologize? When you burp, you don't apologize? When you're late, you don't apologize? Your comment that apologies are "an act of submission" is just ridiculous.

People who don't apologize are known as jerks. That's what Trump is.

Why should you apologize for burping? That’s an involuntary bodily function. You do so to submit to the sense of decorum of those around you. So your complaint is, the president, who has not voluntarily and personally wronged you, owes you an apology for what?

Because your examples are pure social convention that have no meaning, and appealing to social convention is not a logical argument

I am sure that your response is an answer to some question, just not the one that I asked. Allow me to simplify it a bit: Would you have any respect for a person who refused to apologize for actions where an apology was warranted? A yes or no answer will suffice.

I think that what the Trump supporters are trying to do is justify Trumps non apologetic style as being only relative to his elected office position and not with respect to him as a human being. The problem with this very weak arguement is that Trump has exhibited this behavior for most of his adult life and long before he was ever elected to public office.

his mentor, roy cohn, red-baiting consigliere to the infamous joseph mccarthy, taught tRump to never display a sign of weakness. making an apology was a sign of weakness to them. no surprise, federal prosecutors unsuccessfully pursued cohn for fraud, bribery, and conspiracy
and we see this binary approach as negatively impacting the white house staff. slip up and apologize and the boss assumes you are weak; plan to be his public target of ridicule thereafter

to your question, whether i personally subscribe to such an ethic; sometimes, unfortunately. i tend to be stubborn even when i know i am wrong [not that it is ever evident on these boards, however sarcasm alert.gif]
