It seems like Trump is doing everything he can to get a war started in the Middle East

It is almost like he and his people planned this from the start. Get a war started in the Middle East seems to be the name of the game. First you end the Iran deal and then tell everyone that a war will be necessary if the Iranians start up their nuclear program again. A war that would include almost all of the countries in the Middle East and maybe even Russia and China. Then you move our embassy to Jerusalem, the one thing sure to stir up the Palestinians and get them out on the streets. This will give Israel the "need" to further secure their settlements on the West Bank by pushing all off the Palestinians into the countries surrounding Israel causing more tinder for the fire already beginning to burn in that apart of the world. All to start another war. I wonder if Trump will get his oil this time, and from Ian since we didn't get the oil he wanted from Iraq?

The hornet’s nest is getting kicked around a good bit.......

Same old same old. Trump and the GOP have to keep their wealthy corporate donors happy with plenty of military contracts.

Excuse me, but why not put the embassy in Jerusalem? Is it like admitting that Israel has a right to exist?

No one is so easily remembered as a War Time President.

It's not Trump. It's John Bolton.

Trump's foreign policy is the same as Bush and Cheney. It's neoconservatism all over again. His supporters are blind to that fact.

We already know Israel has the right to exist, by putting the embassy there we are saying that the Palestinians don't and that will start the war.

I respectfully disagree -- I believe when it is all said and done, Trump's foreign policy efforts will be among his greatest achievements next to his economic record so far. He is surpassing expectations on both fronts -- Now Trump has ZERO to do with any of the decisions other than agreeing with what whomever in the room tells him

No one is so easily remembered as a War Time President.

Woodrow Wilson
Franklin Roosevelt
Harry S Truman
Dwight Eisenhower
John F. Kennedy
Lyndon Johnson
Richard Nixon
George H. W. Bush
George W. Bush
Barack Obama

"I have always wanted to move our embassy to west Jerusalem. We have a designated site there. I have not done so because I didn't want to do anything to undermine our ability to help to broker a secure and fair and lasting peace for Israelis and for Palestinians."

Bill Clinton

The US recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel BY LAW in 1995 with a commitment to move our embassy there. Bush recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Obama recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. They all had a LEGAL mandate to move the US embassy to Jerusalem but never did. They made the excuse of not acting on the law in order to broker peace, but they never did that either. Probably because they understand...there will NEVER be peace there. The Palestinians dont WANT peace and will never accept peace as anything more than a chance to reposition and reload (and I have said before and will say again...I dont necessarily blame them. I see both sides. But that IS why there will never be peace in Israel, just as the existence of fundamentalist Islam is the reason why there will never be peace in all of the middle east and inf act Europe).

The hornet’s nest is getting kicked around a good bit.......
All he did was followed through on a campaign promise which was to follow the actual US law which was written and passed back in 1995 and has been ignored and delayed by the past 3 presidents.

VM, this is only one kick of the bee-hive.

In truth its even worse than that. This current blend of isolationism and neoconservatism harkens back to The UK's exit from the region of the Middle East as the major imperialist and the wreckage left in its wake.

Yes both UK and American interests supported the creation of the State of Israel. But neither cared to even give a thought to the Palestinians. The only "thought" offered was that "the Palestinians will just integrate into surrounding Arab countries. How much does that sound like the dimwitted and entirely racist domino theory applied to Southeast Asia.

The UK wanted out just as they wanted out in Iran, fed up with the mounting cost of maintaining their far flung empire.

The only thing the Palestinians have learned in all of this is that in extending the olive branch of peace and giving up the tools they had to exert pressure, the same tools the Israelis used to secure their homeland, they have ended up screwed in the process. Now they have been walked back so far by their moderate leaders that they must prove again their desire to have a homeland before even their Arab neighbors will support them openly. But I suspect they will do just that and we will be left with this conflict to go along with other Middle East conflicts long after I am pushing up daisies.

The West's ridiculous foreign policy perspective regarding the Middle East has led to a massive failure whether ramrodded by the UK or by the US or both. We have failed in virtually every major component of the Middle East other than Saudi where we have also by the way failed but simply hide it because we don't want our one "public" success to be exposed for its actual failure.

Trump for his part is simply a proponent of the worst aspects of Western foreign policy in the region, not more and not less. Though you could say he is right at the very extreme end of those worst aspects.

We learned during the previous eight years that relying on the Hero Worship of The Anointed One and saying "pretty please" don't work. Some times you just have to stand up and say "know this **** off".

Speaking of "same old same old" this cliché has got moss on it.

Well, little boosts a POTUS' popularity better than a war.

FFS...do you think Iran was sitting over there in their home country saying...Gee...we sure are grateful that we have such a good relationship with the US. We are sure committed to this whole peace process and complying with the agreements we have signed.

I mean...sure...they denied the IAEA access to the sites where military nuclear testing could occur. SURE they have troops in Syria. SURE they have been stirring **** up throughout the middle east. SURE they took US navy people captive with the last administration. SURE they have been aggressively challenging our naval vessels the last 5 years. But that Trump, boy...he is really causing all the problems.

No...it didnt and no...we dont need a bigger boat. It MIGHT be helpful if half the people on the boat we have werent busy trying to punch a hole in the hull just because they hate the captain and they are going to by golly show him.

Do you write fiction for a living?
The above is just a bunch of nonsense being passed off as reality.

You missed the mark, again. Conscription fills the boat, I think we are a little too lean for all the battles we seem to be picking.

Tis true. I think Trump wants to be remembered no matter the reason as to why he's remembered.

He's a POTUS. He'll be remembered regardless of what he does.

What he wants to be is broadly popular in the present, be it superficially so or in fact.

Tis true. I think Trump wants to be remembered no matter the reason as to why he's remembered.

Did you even read the list of war time presidents I posted? I could have started with George Washington and Abe Lincoln, did all of them want to be remembered no matter what, or is it maybe that there is always a war somewhere? The more things change the more they are the same. Trump simply fulfilled another promise he made.
