Just don't ever get in the middle of two Baptists who are having a disagreement about Je-heyzus!
The Jonesboro Church Wars
Jonesboro Church Wars - Encyclopedia of Arkansas
Baptist was my last stop on the church trail; I now believe God hates churches. If EVER there was an institution that was steeped in petty conflict and hypocrisy we have yet to see it upon this earth.
My last stop was Canadian Baptist a kind of neutral in the Baptist feud; I thought they were where I believe a church should be, and progressive a lesbian pastor and two transgenered people.
But like every other church they have gathered their chairs facing in, and exist of and for themselves and at times jump on a 'do gooder' band wagon. But when you face inward only you will have to fear what is behind you. Instead of providing community they feed off it, taxless and often vacant 6 days a week.
As I told a friend, I can go to some pretty high end places to be judged by others, why do I need church? At one I was told by a complete stranger "you shouldn't wear sandals to church" to which I replied "Did anyone tell Jesus?"
I know less about God than I do about living, but I know enough to know what really, really pisses Him off is pride, judgement of others is pride personified. His will is for forgiveness and those who don't forgive, don't get forgiven. After 20 years of searching for the answer to ONE question "why me?" vis a vis getting sober I figure there is more about God in everyday culture than in church. Even the Beatles..."and in the end.....the love you get is equal to the love you give".
I've heard pastors spend a good part of 40 minutes trying to say the same thing
