Just to further address this Kanye debacle.

The amount of people that think Kanye has some kind of valid point, is just saddening to me. First of all, if you haven't watched the TMZ interview with Kanye, go watch it in full. He is a rambling lunatic, who has no idea what he's talking about, goes all over the place, and has no coherent argument. That little blip in the media makes it seem like that was mostly what he was talking about, but really that was one stupid point in a list of even stupider points. And it's funny, because his previous interview with Charlemagne Tha God was so much better. I don't know why he was unable to keep a consistent train of thought in that TMZ interview. The only thing Kanye can really recite is a bunch of talking points Candace Owens has been feeding to him. In fact, in that interview all she really was was his translator, so that his rants sounded a little bit more coherent.

But now he's Trump supporters new favorite black guy. And this is funny, because a lot of these very same people criticise other celebrities when they go on left-wing tirades against Trump, when they apparently should just be doing what they were paid to do. Or with Colin Kaepernick, when he protested by taking a knee. I guess that only applies when they disagree with the content. Either it's not okay for none of them, or okay for all of them. Pick one.

And with the whole slavery is a choice thing, that is not new sentiment. I've heard it before, and it was just as stupid back then as it is now. People are saying "slaves had the choice to fight back!" And some slaves did. But many of them died as a result. And not only that, fighting back against an entire slave system like that was just not feasible for the slaves at that time, certainly not on any large scale. It took the country being ripped apart in two for slavery to end. The "choice" slaves had was a BS choice. Either be a slave or die. That's not much of a choice, of ****ing course most wanted to live. That's the logical thing to do in that situation, because they had no means to change their situation in the long run. It took a whole lot of effort, to make some significant changes.

Now, some hardcore fans of Kanye are praising him, for having "opened their eyes" to the other side of the aisle. And to that I say this: If it took a rambling moron like Kanye to convince you that the other side isn't Satan incarnate, you should probably steer clear of politics in general. All he did was wear a MAGA hat, shake Trump's hand, and say a bunch of stupid bull****. The only thing that should convince anyone of is how loony he is. And even with the Trump supporters that love Kanye now, it's not like he supports Trump's policies. In the interview with Charlamagne, he supported "Bernie-like politics" under the face of Trump. Kanye likes Trump for his image: they are both egotistical narcissists, and tend to go against the grain and ignite controversy. His talking points that he got from his buddy Candace are just whatever.

And I also don't understand the people that think now Kanye's lost it. No, you idiots, he's always been this retarded. Every since he was like "George Bush doesn't care about black people!". Or when he blamed Obama's inability to get anything done on the Jews. Just because Kanye went MAGA now and is all buddy-buddy with Trump, doesn't mean he's any less dumb than he already was. But now his little stunt seems to be backfiring on him, as he alienated a lot of his fans with his comments. Might hurt his album financially if this continues to grow, but I doubt it.

Kanye is politically stupid, his entire argument was stupid, and people need to stop acting like he had any kind of coherent point to his ramblings. And people need to stop acting like Kanye somehow went to the deep end, when he's always been this crazy.

politics is not his strong point. appears music is. good grief hes got a ton of grammys.

I agree that Kanye is a person whose opinions lack intellectual seriousness.

But if I may ask, The Governess, are there any black people on the political right who you respect even if you disagree with their opinions or positions? If so, who? And if not, why not?

Eh, even a lot of his music ain't that great. Life of Pablo was meh. Kanye's earlier projects were awesome, though.

One of the big problems we have in America is celebrity culture. There is a tendency to automatically elevate someone's opinion if they are famous. We are seeing this with Kanye right now. The man has won a ton of awards, and made a lot of money for himself, but at the end of the day he is a musician and a producer. That doesn't mean that his political opinions are any more valid than anyone else. Usually we see the democratic party bring in celebrities to try to seem cool, but whenever there is a chance for republicans to pull in a celebrity it's like a feeding frenzy. If I was republican I would definitely prefer having Kanye's star power by my side than Ted Nugent or Scott Baio, but none of it really matters.

I am not surprised by his behavior. He has always been this way. I remember when he said if he were living in biblical times right now, he'd be a great person written about in the bible. Then he went on Oprah, and she asked him about his favorite quote, and he rambled on about himself. Most people on her show just recite a famous quote, but not him. He has always been like this. He isn't going to go alt right or anything. In a few years, he will be going off about something else and the right wing will hate him.

Kanye West's remarks about slavery do not deserve to be dignified by remarking on them. They don't even deserve the recognition of infamy; better that they, and he, quite frankly, be consigned to ignominy by way of being completely disregarded by all quarters of sane, informed and decorous society.

While it is better to be loved than hated, it is also far better to be hated than ignored.

There's a YouTuber I like, SomeBlackGuy. He's a pretty cool guy, and although he's not a conservative per-se, he does hang around that crowd often. And I usually agree with his POV's anyways, especially concerning social justice-y, cultural appropriation type stuff. I find Candace Owens obnoxious, and her questionable past with Social Autopsy makes me dislike her even more. I gained respect for Tree of Logic, a black conservative YouTuber, after watching her expose on Candace. Dwayne Johnson is an awesome mother****er, and he's a Republican. Although he identifies more with his Samoan side.

Trump supporters are stupid. But, that is a good thing. It makes Trump believe we are all stupid. Hence the latest SNAFU, re: Stormy Daniels, by Rudy on Fox Stupid People's News.

Just to further address this Kanye debacle.

I can't believe anyone actually listens to that guy at all. He's off his rocker, has been forever. But America is all about Celebrity Fever, I suppose. It annoys me because these aren't typically the most politically educated folk out there. Who cares if someone has a reality TV show and a Twitter account? It doesn't make them some highly researched and well spoken political pundit.

When it comes to Kanye, and most of our dead-brained celebrities, we should just collectively nod our heads say "Well, that's nice" and then move along.

LOL, Gov, the right will love him then.

I'm a guy on the political right. Let me tell you my opinion of The Governess:

She's one of the most intelligent and thoughtful young people I've ever had the pleasure of reading their thoughts and opinions. She neither right nor left. She bases her opinions on facts and truth, not political dogma or party line bull****.

In many instances, her stances could be seen as right of center, and many times they could be seen as left of center.

As to race, I've never seen any hint of a reason to even ask her something like you did. As far as I can tell, she's color blind.

I hope that helps you. I think you owe her an apology, but maybe that's just me.

thats just you. he asked a very fair question
(though i too agree shes incredibly nice and love most of what she posts). the question is more toward people who support the topic at hand.

i dont think leftists, or centrists, throw support to conservative and/or republican minorities just because of the 'R' next to their name.

change our minds...
