Cultural Appropriation is bull****.

Could you possibly participate in one thread without bitching about progressives? No one here is even defending the prom dress thing as an incident of cultural appropriation.

If you don't like what I have to say, feel completely free not to respond. I participate in many threads without mentioning progressives.

Shame on you and your abject dishonesty.

You're missing the point. If a person borrows an aspect of a culture to which they do not belong with the intention of mocking that culture, that is an incident of cultural appropriation that should cause offense. Not a single person in this thread thinks the prom dress was intended to be disrespectful.

I think that was obvious.

I’m gonna put on my poncho and my sombrero and have me a nice margarita on Saturday! (Or is the margarita going overboard?)
Perhaps a corona?

In that case you would be appropriating what Hollywood thinks Mexico is like.

When we have reached the point that we can bitch and moan about clothes and hairstyles we have probably either run out of legitimate **** to bitch about or completely lost focus on what we are bitching about.

1. You wrote that Cultural Appropriation is stupid. You do understand that what you're saying is that it's stupid to for the "majority culture to adopt elements of a minority culture". I think you meant the opposite of that. Being OFFENDED at all Cultural Appropriation, is stupid, is perhaps what you meant.

2. You apparently do not understand why some people take offense at cultural appropriation, because you offer up that their reason for appropriation the culture may be out of appreciation. You can appreciate a culture and appropriate it, and still offend those types of people for entirely valid reasons.
This has nothing to do with why some people are offended at cultural appropriation, meaning to me you don't understand the issue to begin with. Aside from getting the definition backwards in #1.

I think you need to get gud before you try and tell anyone what's stupid or not.

As to SJW nutters being hyper offended by any/all perceived forms of cultural appropriation. Yes, they are stupid. And yet there are some rare instances where cultural appropriation is unseemly and potentially offensive. This all goes back to the actual definition, that involves majority vs minority...majority sometimes has trouble empathizing with the minority, and really cannot understand that perspective. Hell, some people can't even understand basic definitions and word usage, go figure.

Besides, why do you care what SJW nutters think? Triggered?

FYI most people in those cultures don’t give a rat’s ass about if I wear dreadlocks or whatever.

#2 we have always borrowed ideas and styles from other cultures, that’s what makes America unique and cultures unique

Who claimed otherwise?
Also, nothing you wrote has anything to do with what I wrote.
