Will Trump plead the 5th if required to testify?

How about they give him the Hillary treatment. Not questioned under oath with an exoneration letter written months before.

Just think with her there were actual crimes committed.

You want to stay on topic or divert

Does it bother you Trump lied for months over the Daniel's episode? Your post suggest you would like integrity from Clinton, how about a Trump? Or do you have a double partisan standard on integrity as most of the Right does?

Demanding equal treatment is a diversion?

Feel free to specify the proven lie the President told about Skanky Daniels.

He claimed to have not had an affair and knew nothing of the 130K pay out

Liar liar, but we know, it don't matter to folks like you. Is it my fault I have higher standards in a leader than the Right, nope

I was military, I value integrity in a leader, do you ?

Actually every time someone points out a so called "Trump lie." I research it and find that 99% of the time he is misquoted or purposely taken out of context. The other 1% he is honestly mistakenly wrong or hipbolicly braggs like everyone does from time to time.

Point out a Trump lie for me to research, I would actually like to find one real lie.

When the GOP fail to impeach/remove him, I assure you they will say:

"We'd prefer he didn't do it, but it's just Trump being Trump!"

What will see in the end will be two things:

1- Trump will throw every single person under the bus who is necessary to save his own skin from legal jeopardy. This includes everyone who works for him or did work for him and includes his own children and family members.

2- Trump will bet that he can win a Senate conviction vote after House impeachment by securing the votes of at least 34 GOP Senators in his favor.

If he has to admit lies, he will do that.
If he has to change every story he ever told, he will do that.
If he has to sacrifice everyone around him to save his own sorry ass, he will do that.
If he has to admit he was a wide eyed political virgin who did not know his ass from a hole in the ground, he will do that.
And if doing all that stops the nation dead in its tracks and makes the current tribal climate even worse, he will do that too.

In the end, the only thing that matters to Trump is that Trump survive.

Trump's legal defense is pretty shaky.

They will try and argue the president can't be forced to testify, which will almost certainly fail at the SCOTUS. Then they will try to argue that many questions are executive privilege, which is doubtful in to persuade the court, too.

If they're smart, they'll inform the SC, Trump intends to invoke the fifth right now - as in tomorrow morning. That will deter the SC from seeking a subpoena greatly, and it won't be known for months until a final report is issued. The alternative is going to SOTUS, likely losing their argument, and Trump being hauled in front of a DC grand jury, to disgracefully plead the fifth on tape, over and over again, or even worse, Trump snapping under the pressure, and having a 'Few Good Men' break down.

Of course, taking the fifth will be disgraceful no matter what.

What I find kinda sad is that no one thinks Trump would simply answer the questions honestly and truthfully, not even his supporters. I thought he was innocent of everything, does not seem to be the path an innocent person would take.

Trump is not capable of give ing honest answers as he does not know the difference between reality and delusion, between truth and lies, between fact and fantasy at any given time. If you get him to talk for an hour on the same subject I would fully expect him to change history several times during just that brief period of time. That his simply his MO.

And they would lose big time in the next to elections, so makes one wonder if they are willing to lose their job and do harm to the GOP. Trump may not be as safe as some of his supporters hope he is.

I don't think you're paying close attention to what's happening in the country outside of your hate-Trump world. If Trump is impeached, the dems will pay at the polls.

Sadly we know that is the case. Most of us expect more from our President.

Dude I voted nearly straight Repub in the last election, I simply skipped over the unacceptable Presidental choices.
Why would the Dems be hurt, if Trump were empeached it would be the Republicans that would be doing it, unless you are saying the Dems will take both Houses of Congress in Nov, I do not think anyone is making that prediction.

This is what happens when you have a political party that will not accept an election result and tries to do anything they can to remove the legally elected person.

I don't think one has to be a raging SJW, or be opposed to moderate/conservative ideals to see that Trump's a reprehensible, pathological lair.

If and when he takes the fifth/invokes executive privilege, it will be a national disgrace like none before it.

First, she was questioned for 11 hours and second lying to a congressional committee has the same result as lying under oath. Ans what crimes has she ever even been indicted for? That's right, if you want to look at a witch hunt, you have to look no farther than the 10 or more investigations into the Benghazi situation. Keep telling yourself you have something on her, but it just isn't so. Our government has spent over ten years and well over 200 million dollars investigating both Clinton's and the best they did was Bill lying about having sex with that woman.

I can tell you one, that he did not know about the payments from Cohen to Stormy and he never paid Cohen back for the cost of the payoff. Both lies>

Have you been listening to the news today. According to his attorney he lied about both not knowing about the payment to Stormy and lied about not paying Cohen back for the payout.

I still say that you cant say "Paying Cohen back" when Trump pre-paid.

Why are we so sure the GOP would lose?

Trump's numbers are rising, albeit very slowly, and he is doing gangbusters within the party - 85%!

I'm not so sure the Trump voters will turn against him, to be honest. If they haven't yet, why later? They hate Dems, more.

No. We are just sick of the witch hunt. The left better come up with some major proof of Trump colluding with the Russians or there may not be a democrat party after the next election. A lot of the democrat party is young open minded college and entrepreneurs. When they find out this has been nothing but a witch hunt and their party is run by the rich and powerful they either may just sit at home or even go independent.

For one thing, Rudy has been all over the map on prepayment saying at one point that Cohen had a slush fund and at another point Trump was sending him retainer checks.

It does not matter which it was if it was either and the FBI now has the information to prove whether it was either or neither. So won't have to guess about this forever.

Cohen had a responsibility to keep his client informed of his activities on his behalf. This stuff of just doing it or "getting the job done" is nonsense. Cohen will be disbarred at least. In addition, its a fig leaf at best for a political campaign. If Cohen either had the slush fund or was getting payments regularly and just "doing the job" it stretches credibility to believe that once they were into a political campaign they could continue to do business that way or even thought they could. Nobody in a court room is going to believe it and that fig leaf is going to be ripped to shreds.

Also just this evening Michael Avenatti, the Daniels attorney has said that he has evidence that Michael Cohen insisted that the payment and any dealing with Daniels must be completed before the election and that the payment was related to the election. That contingency existed for a reason and Avenatti and SDNY is going to hang it around Cohen's and subsequently Trump's neck because big mouth Rudy has brought Trump right into the middle of that payment.

I believe Mueller has unearthed a lot more than we see on the surface, and to clip an investigation short is not getting to the bottom of things.

Mueller's was given a mandate, let him finish (he hasn't even interviewed the kids & Kushner yet). And then when he's done, read the report and make up your mind.

If there's crimes there, prosecute. If not, don't. If Trump's dirty, it's up to Congress. If not, it's still up to Congress.

I don't see what's the problem here. Mueller's uncovered a lot of crime in Trump's associates, and he's not even done yet.

Trumps habit is to have a slush fund one must assume because why would you ever add the stress to your fixer about where the money will come from? It is pointless, it gets in the way of getting results, which is what Trump is after.

Nice post by the way.

2 years and we are still haven't interviewed the key players. How many decades will this witch hunt go on. Until they find out Trump skipped school 50 years ago.

If I am not mistaken Watergate start to finish was 930 days and only ended then because Nixon resigned.

Just based on the cast of characters for sheer complication, this thing makes Watergate look like a walk in the park.

I should mention though that if Mueller decides to subpoena Trump for the grand jury and trump fights it, the case will be fast tracked through the system for the good of the American people. Trump will lose and be sitting in front of the grand jury taking the 5th.

Due to the political delicacy required, I'm sure Mueller saved interviewing and/or indicting the kids & Kushner, until the very end.

As to time, Watergate took over 2 years, and Whitewater-Lewinski took around 5 years if I remember correctly, so this investigation is quite a bit shorter than those. Mueller was only appointed 11 months ago.

But regardless, investigations don't have finite time-frames. They go until finished. The faster Trump & his kids & Kushner meet with Mueller, the faster it finishes. Right now, it seems Trump is holding-up the show, from what I can see.

Thing is, investigations only finish when they're complete.

And right now, it's starting to look like Trump is holding-up the show. He needs to meet with Mueller, or this thing will drag on forever.

jnug makes a great point about Watergate.

Add to that Republicans spending millions and five years on two investigations of Bill Clinton. The first about Whitewater where they found no evidence and the second being found guilty and impeached over lying about a BJ.

Which is laughable considering Trump's daily lying and long history of immoral behavior, both well known before his election.

Then add Repubs who spent $7 million on 33 separate hearings over a span of four year on the Benghazi investigation. I also understand that this select committee was in existence for 72 weeks, longer than the Watergate investigation. Yet they're still calling for more!

And how long has Trump been in office? :2rofll:
Has anyone noticed how often Republicans refer to TDS? Considering the time and money spent in the past and possible future investigations, we should really be talking about HDS!

Repubs are as thin skinned as the racist they look up to. I'd use the old adage about the pot/kettle but more to the point, they're just plain sanctimonious hypocrites...
