I try to think outside of my box? Didn't work, huh?
.......nope

Name something which you keep in the home that you're unlikely to ever actually use for it's intended purpose, but for which if used incorrectly or found by your child could easily kill a member of your family.

Because if I did own one, I would not use it...I assume most people who have a gun in their home own it for protection and how often is that needed? Not very often...hopefully never...
Live? With a pullable pin? Wouldn't tell child services about that if I was you.
So grenades are designed as paperweights? I own guns but I don't have to pretend they're not deadly. The backflips I see some people doing to avoid accepting reality is interesting to behold. Thus is the power of gun the religion.
Let's see....lawn mower, prescription medication, oven, electrical outlets, swing set, chain saw, nail gun, anti freeze, bleach, an entire assortment of chemicals, actually, lighter fluid, baseball bat...
I mean, how long do you want this list to be?
You wouldn't use these items for their intended purpose?!?

I got ahead of the curve.
Should I have waited until someone "outed" the thread as a poorly disguised gun control bait thread?
No, I'm using a hand grenade for a purpose for which is what not intended. What reality do you reference? I see no discussion about guns, this is a riddle thread. Didn't you read the title?
I guess for the sufficiently obtuse, every thread is a riddle. Why can't we discuss the point and not allow deliberate ignorance to define youe side of the discussion?
Well, dagnabit...I wanna know the answer!
Why can't we have a discussion without assuming that someone else is on the other side from you?
There is a gun control sub-forum, this topic isn't in it, and I don't go in there to read the threads therein.
If you pretend not to understand the point of the OP, that seems like what gun control opponents do frequently. Sorry to mistake you for a serious participant.
Guns are the only items I can think of.
You sure do assume a lot. I never said I didn't understand the point of the OP, let's just settle on the fact it was a stupid OP. The fun of a riddle is coming up with an answer that can meet the requirements, even if that wasn't the OP's intention. Why is it so important for you to think that I oppose gun control? I've never posted on the topic and since I don't go there, and you seem fixated on it, I can only assume you do.
As for what you think is serious, it's a fricking riddle and you are looking for serious? I'd recommend against choosing humorless as your persona.
I admit it's a dumb riddle because it's transparently obvious what he's talking about. However, the point that guns are deadly by design really IS something that is ignored deliberately by gun control opponents. I'm not interested in assuming you're an opponent of gun control but your comment was of the typically stupid variety I've come to expect from them, and the lack of humor was yours. Juvenile equivocations have long polluted this debate and have not produced enough tears of laughter to make up for the blood and tears of grief.
Fine, you're just poking fun at the OP for being less than clever. Even a child can understand what he's saying is true, though, and deserves to be said. And, that's better than a funny lie any day, even though yours wasn't as funny as you think.
