In light of current events, this one seems appropriate.

April 2017: Trump on North Korea: “After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy”

President Donald Trump recounted an absolutely astounding detail about one of his conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping in comments published by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday afternoon. Apparently, Trump came into his first meeting with the Chinese leader, in early April, convinced that China could simply eliminate the threat posed by North Korea’s nuclear program. Xi then patiently explained Chinese-Korean history to Trump — who then promptly changed his mind.

“After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy,” the president told the Journal. “I felt pretty strongly that they had a tremendous power [over] North Korea. ... But it’s not what you would think.”

I need to have this one on tap. If your poll numbers are good with evangelicals, you don't have to ask God for forgiveness. Pretty sure that's in the Bible.

After months of reflection, Donald Trump says he still doesn't regret his decision not to ask God for forgiveness for his sins.
In an interview on Sunday with CNN, the Republican presidential frontrunner said that he does not regret never asking God for forgiveness, partially because he says he doesn't have much to apologize for.

"I have great relationship with God. I have great relationship with the Evangelicals," Trump said in the interview before pivoting to his poll numbers among Evangelical voters.

"I like to be good. I don't like to have to ask for forgiveness. And I am good. I don't do a lot of things that are bad. I try to do nothing that is bad."

Late last year, Trump told Republican pollster and focus-group guru Frank Luntz that when the real-estate mogul has done something wrong, he tries to correct his error without getting God involved.

"I am not sure I have," Trump said when asked if he'd ever asked God for forgiveness. "I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

Hopefully others will start adding treasures .... but for now ... this is one I've frequently had cause to google for so here it is for easier reference:

Donald Trump, 2012

"Today's job report is not a good sign & we could be facing another recession. No real job growth. We need over 300K new jobs a month."

Here's What Donald Trump Said on the Campaign Trail About a President Being Under Investigation

.... before he was elected president, Trump repeatedly blasted 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the investigation into her use of a private e-mail server while Secretary of State. In fact, Trump said having a sitting president under criminal investigation would result in a “constitutional crisis.”

“She’s likely to be under investigation for criminality for a very, very long time to come,” Trump said during a Oct. 31, 2016 speech in Warren, Mich.

“We’re going to be tied up in court for the rest of our lives with this deal,” he added, referring to if Clinton were elected. “She’s not going to win the election, but I’m just saying. If Hillary is elected, she will be under protracted criminal investigation likely followed by the trial of a sitting president. This is just what we need.”

Yesterday ....
“They never say I’m a great speaker,” Trump bellowed, pointing at the media attending the rally. “Why the hell do so many people come? It’s got to be something. I guess they like my policy?”

Trump then invoked Sir Elton John, famed pop star, to explain:

“I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.”

never expected i would admit to such a thing, but damned if tRump's remarks don't make dubya look statesmanlike by comparison

Trump always talks about Maxine Waters IQ (When pandering to the racists in his base), but where is the evidence that he has a high IQ? I mean the man can't even put together coherent sentences.

Trump Wednesday:
"The Soviet incursion into Afghanistan caused the fall of the Soviet Union."

That one is so mind bending coming from anybody let alone a supposed President of the United States that it falls into an entirely new category of absurd.

cuckoo......cuckoo....cuckoo

I’m treated bad. And I’m working hard. This job is from an economic — you know, I get a kick out of these people saying “Oh, a rich Arab stayed at his hotel,” you know, I’ll bet you between opportunity cost and actual cost, you know but I lost massive amounts of money doing this job. This is not the money. This is, this is one of the great losers of all time. You know fortunately I don’t need money. This is one of the great losers of all time. But they’ll say that somebody from some country stayed at a hotel. And I’ll say “Yeah.” But I lose, I mean, the numbers are incredible.

(p.s. about some of that money that foreign entities pay him through his hotels: https://thinkprogress.org/trump-for...onomic-new-york-times-interview-868b6f320272/)

Listening to him is bad enough but trying to follow anything he says in a written form is just torture. One thing is certain, he didn't go to catholic school, the nuns would have beat him silly for being so stupid back at that time.

I like to have a convenient place to drop these gems as I come across them.

From today:

Trump: 'Immensely wealthy' Arab countries 'wouldn't last a week' without US support

“We will have a strong blockage to the Mediterranean, which to me is very important because if you don’t you have Iran going right to the Mediterranean, we aren’t going to have that."

Maybe someone here can translate that.

The Idiot mean't to say...…..TRUMP'S WEALTH,WOULD NOT SURVIVE ONE DAY WITHOUT WEALTHY SAUDI MONEY....THE GUY THINKS WE ARE ALL IDIOTS LIKE HIM

Reminds me of his speech on rejecting the EPA's AGW report. I guess it must be easy for thoughts to get lost in a very big brain, the best brain....

This part from one of Trump's latest tweets to China:

"You had a great deal, almost completed, & you backed out!"

Reminds me of the bipartisan immigration bill he blew up when the far right GOP reps got in his ear, the one where he had billions for his wall and wouldn't have had to shut down government, wouldn't have to borrow money from the defense department which he says needs so much more money, and wouldn't have to provoke a constitutional crisis by overriding acts of Congress.

Do we have a thread just for Trump's profoundly ironic statements?

Sadly, I find a need to post this quote from Trump. With all the outrageousness he piles on top of his bonfire of ignorance, people seem to have forgotten he said this, and they think I'm actually defending the man instead of mocking the crybaby.

May 17, 2017:

"Look at the way I have been treated lately, especially by the media. No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly."

"I'm the king of debt. I love debt." -- Trump, May 2016

Asked if the U.S. needs to pay its debt in full or if it could negotiate a partial repayment, Trump said: "I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal."

Trump, March 2018

"When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win. Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore-we win big. It’s easy!"
