Michael Cohen and the Busting of the Trump Crime Family

The most shocking-but-not-surprising aspect of James Comey’s account of meeting Donald Trump is the ease with which he drew upon his experience prosecuting organized crime. Meeting Trump, he told George Stephanopoulos, “I had a flashback to my days investigating the Mafia, La Cosa Nostra.” Trump’s leadership style eerily tracked that of the mob bosses he had studied. “There’s an expression in the Mafia — there’s a distinction between a friend of yours and a friend of ours. A friend of yours is someone on the outside of the family, a friend of ours, an ‘amica nostra’ is the way they talked about it in Sicilian, is part of the Family, capital F.”

This guy Cohen is even dirtier than I thought. I wonder how much rubbed off in either direction from his former boss?

This is an opinion smear piece.
What does it prove exactly?
That's what I thought. Nothing.
 
In the end we will find out that Trump has been running a criminal enterprise for several decades and would not have survived without Russian and other Eastern European assistance.

The article draws an apt comparison, and is a plausible explanation for why everybody in the Trump administration is unqualified and wholly corrupt.

If you can think of a better explanation for why Trump and everyone on his campaign lied about their connections to Russian interests, why everybody in his administration is corrupt, and why nobody is even remotely qualified to do their job, I'd love to hear it.

I've been thinking that ever since Trump said that he "couldn't release his taxes due to an audit" -- which makes no sense; he would release his taxes after the election; and them refused to release them at all. There is clearly stuff in his taxes pointing to something he doesn't want us to know (hmmm, maybe a tax-deduction for the Russian pee-pee prostitutes as a business entertainment expense?)

We all know from public information that legitimate banks stopped lending Trump money because he defaulted so much. That leaves Russian sources. Now, why would Russians lend Trump money -- what could they possibly expect in return?

I'm no fan of ol' White eyes, but Banks, churches, huge Corporations, hedge funds, Gov'ts, etc. ad infinitum, are alternative power structures and all resemble one another. Leadership styles are what work for the particular environment. The Mafia, churches, and banks have a lot in common, ergo similar leadership styles. Gov'ts and big MIC are entertwined in an almost familial manner and operate in that style. The Fed and Banks collude to manipulate large economies and are even more secretive than the Mafia. Billionaires are obviously controlling an alternative power structure and might find copying Mafia techniques quite useful and functional. Everything the Mafia does is not illegal. When the Mafia makes a huge financial killing, where do the monies go? Friendly Banks, either by buying the banks or buying the Bank's executive. Since everyone agrees that some Mafias make really big money, they must also be some really Big Banks. Alternative Power Structures, don't ya' know? Relativity.

Yours proves you answer your own irrelevant question. Accounts of events, such as Comey's, are assertions of facts, not proof of the facts asserted.

We're not talking about "style," we're talking about crime. When the churches etc. are found to engage in money laundering and threatening witnesses, then we'll conclude they're similar.

Not necessarily...not even probably. Ultimately indictment and trial may be hard for trump to avoid now. A prosecutor may never have gone after him had he not run for President.

I cannot get over how many from this forum completely ignore the fact that the Cohen investigation does not mean much until we, the people, have the known facts.

Let's live in the real world, shall we? I don't know what is going to happen to Trump, nor do you. Yours is just a rush to judgment based on your wishful thinking.
Same goes for the guy who wrote the opinion piece....

Trump is not the target of the Michael Cohen probe according to Rosenstein.

I rest my case............ :)

I will be happy that the truth is discover in the end. And in the end Trump will be shown to be just like Comey has described him - a crime boss.

That is not the question you posed. The question you posed was would trump not be indicted or behind bars already if this stuff were known and that is simply not an assumption that is born out in reality. If you knew nothing else, you would have to know that more known probable crime goes by the boards, without either indictment or prosecution every day than probable crimes that are prosecuted. Being prosecuted is often more an issue of sticking your head above the grass line than whether or not a crime might have been committed if you roll that way. Natives of the tri-states will openly tell you that Trump has always rolled that way. His father always rolled that way.

Donald is about 10x his dad in that regard.
