To the non "tRump worshippers," do you have any issues with the Cohen raid?

During the campaign, tRump famously said that he could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and could get away with it. I remember thinking how absurd that comment was, but the tRump supporters on DP have proven that statement correct time and time again. It seems that tRump is the only member of "tRumpworld" that recognizes how gullible the tRump base really is.

That said, do any of the OTHER posters here have any issue with the Cohen raid? It appears to have been properly obtained and properly executed. Personally, I do not think that ANYONE is above the law-including a POTUS of any party. What do you folks think?

Taint teams seem pretty controversial. Are they a new thing? It's the first I'm hearing of them... Then Trump supporters tell me it's common practice.

Here's an article from a couple years ago before Cohen thing. https://www.law.com/newyorklawjourn...ble-With-Taint-Teams/?slreturn=20180316162605

I grew up with a totally different definition of "taint."

And they were, in fact, common. (Yet, different in their own way.)

Carry on.

Unlike Trump supporters I don't think anyone is above the law, not the president and not his shady lawyer.

"Taint" in this application is not a result of an action, but a deterrent to keep something from occurring.

We certainly know that the "lock her up crowd" are double digit I.Q'ers at best.
We also know that tRump certainly think that he is above the law and God Almighty.

Perhaps its nomenclature, but here as in Britain they are called "Amicus curiae", or 'friend of the court'. They are answerable to the judge, not the district attorney (Crown here) and sift through anything produced by a raid that may violate ANY aspect of the constitution, not just attorney client privilege.

Here they have been used when investigating politicians, lawyers and in one instance a provincial premier.

Trump as usual is being completely dishonest; the next complain will be 'it's taking too long' knowing "Amicus curiae" adds weeks, months to an investigation.

Still spelling like a child, I see.
No credibility as long as you do that.

Back on the tRump fantasy. Lashing out at anyone and anything.
Hilarious to read this tripe.

Here Amicus Briefs are somewhat different. "Taint Teams" are merely an investigative safeguard.

Yours is a mis-spelling/pronunciation of a body part which I believe sounds like "taint".

My dictionary defines it as a smear, discoloration etc

Attorney/Client privilege does not and should never extend to hiding evidence of commission of further crimes. If there is strong evidence showing that the attorney either committed or is hiding evidence of a crime, then there should never be any kind of legal shield that enables him to continue to hide those crimes from the eyes of the law.

The irony is that if this had happened to a Clinton attorney, tRump, Hannity and EVERY "closet racist" tRump supporter here on DP would be tickled ****less.

tRump, Hannity and tRump supporters are ONLY pissed because they are scared ****less.

The raid suggests that lawyer/client confidentiality is a thing of the past. The fascist arm of justice has ruled. Woe is we.

There should be attorney client privilege but that is not the case if the attorney themself is being investigated, which is apparently the case here. Cohen is the one being investigated for illegal activities. If they were to find something against Trump I don't believe it could be used because that would be attorney client privilege.

Actually, no. If there is evidence that Trump is doing something illegal that Cohen is not involved with, and if Cohen has that information and is not reporting it, then he at a minimum is committing obstruction of justice by not reporting illegal activity.

But if there is evidence that Trump is doing something illegal that Cohen is involved with, and Cohen has that information and is not reporting it, then that's not only obstruction of justice, but also conspiracy that includes Trump himself.
