"Absurd? Come on."
Yes absurd. what was he...politically motivated one way one minute and the other way the next? He simply did not know what he was doing. He has admitted that. We keep looking at the small hands and russian prostitutes stuff because they are the shiny objects. There were three revelations that have come out so far that are worthy of added appraisal and one was that Comey himself reveals how blockheaded he was in and around his actions regarding the Clinton Emails. He admits it!
How can you look at what he is saying and convince yourself that he was a dedicated, effective political activist? You can't. He thought he was protecting the integrity of the election...an absurd calculation on any level. Thought he was protecting the integrity of the agency and his office..a bit more logical but only a bit. He thought he knew how to read the polls where he was woefully wrong.
The polls going into the key battleground states all included large enough numbers of uncommitted voters to overwhelm any straight up head to head poll between trump and Clinton. Large blocks of uncommitted voters always favor the new guy. They don't favor the establishment candidate. If you were going to act politically from Comey's position you would have had to flesh that out. Clinton's campaign knew it. They just could not get Hillary to respond to it.
So you want to tell me that a political activist considering action that he thought would have a bearing on the election did what....just took the election blather coming out of the networks and ran with that? His motives are blockheaded but honest, uninformed but honest and too uninformed for me to buy them being the actions of a political activist.
In fact we need to get over the whole notion that FBI agents have any earthly idea about politics that sway their Intelligence activities. There may be other things that sway their biases but not politics. They are used to looking at politics through the lens of making a case and thats it. You can't find more than two ex-FBI agents that have held political office in recent years, one for one term. Rogers of Michigan has had the only meaningful political career of all of them. If they were political activists we would have more of them running and winning. They don't because they are simply not motivated in that direction regardless of having law degrees which can usually be a great springboard into a career in politics.
