Bizarre analogy, but it's not too far off base, IMO.

Disagree with this ignorance. The Flint issue was due to poor government oversight and not a deliberate attack via poisoning against a population. As far as "gassing" natives at Standing Rock the government had to do what they did to evict foolish and out of line protesters, what the government did here in this situation was the right thing to do. Hardly equivalent to a dictator using chemical weapons on innocent civilians. Nice spin though

Standing Rock was a massive screw up for all sides, but the martyrdom complex surrounding the protestors was a load of crap.

Early into the protest, things were very cordial. When I drove through, there was never a worry. As time went on, people were bussed in as professional protesters, and then it gradually went to hell.

I do also think things could have been handled better.

The security guards were awful, many of the arrests were nonsense, and the state politicians demagogued the issue during the legislative session (actually one candidate for national office is campaigning on the issue, for some reason).

But the protest eventually turned into a farce. The local protesters started turning on the "support" they were getting from outsiders, the local pro-protest politicians were demanding that they leave, etc.

The reason why most people have a really anti-law enforcement perspective on the protest was because national news bureaus were not covering the protest and were relying (oddly) on footage or statements taken by protesters or alt-media outlets. No one was grabbing material from the media outlets across the state, although it was plentiful.
