The US Deep State has been after Syria since 1949.

glad you picked up on that. Yes, our airport security was lax as ****, we didn't even have a TSA.

sorry; not buyin' the BS from Smith County ......... act like you know something instead of playin' games ...........

Well if Deep State just means the Bureaucracy what is the Bureaucracy. Seems to me that some of us are confusing the two. If there is no difference between the so called "Deep State" and the Bureaucracy there was no need for a term like Deep State to be brought into existence. It exists because it implies something deeper and more threatening than Bureaucracy.

That said, the need for a overarching Middle East policy is beyond pregnant. The entire situation screams for an actual policy which of course is beyond Donald's meager capabilities. We just, for the second time in two years attacked the state of Syria, not ISIS on Syrian territory but the state of Syria. Neither action was covered under the existing authorizations. Trump is not king and these attacks ala' chem warfare at least in our case are hypocritical in the extreme. I don't know if they are hypocritical in the extreme in the case of the UK or France. May is in about as much trouble in the UK as Trump is here so she might have been looking for some incident that might give her some cred with her people. Both France and the UK still takes refugees from Syria and he has not cut his humanitarian budget to Syria to the bone.

Though I doubt Syria is in a position to do it and would not see it as advantageous to their circumstances, it would be hard to argue that they were not within their rights if they counterattacked.

You think, prior to 911, we had the same kind of airport security that we do now?
