Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs[W:103]

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

No Mycroft, that couldn't be it.

This was only done to benefit Ivanka.

Yes...that's what the anti-Trumpers want to believe, even though the facts tell them otherwise.

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

And? Who does it benefit the most, trump.

Can you show how this benefits Trump more than any other clothing company?

That's a nice way to ignore the fact that the Trump Crime Family owns clothing companies.

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

You have presented your case well. Thank you for taking the time.

In the end, once all else has been stripped away, we are left with the Trump enterprises in China not subject to the tariff while many non-Trump enterprises will pay it.

That is the bottom line and all the rest of this is lipstick on a pig. For it is still a pig.

Should the US have hurt all clothing companies making their products in China just so you can feel OK?

Your point of view doesn't make any sense.

Na, just hurt companies using steel and aluminum. That's far better than hurting Ivanka.

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

Let me correct this, please:

"In the end, once all else has been stripped away, we are left with the Trump enterprises along will all other American apparel companies in China not subject to the tariff"

Thank you!

It seems that it doesn't matter to some on the left if tens of thousands of Americans are hurt just so they can have a sense that a Trump isn't benefiting from a government action.

It really makes no sense.

Yes...that's what the anti-Trumpers want to believe, even though the facts tell them otherwise.

Facts are not relevant. They just want to see a Trump hurt even if it hurts a huge number of people along with her.

It is a crime to own a clothing company?

Haven't you read your own thread?

It has been pointed out why you are so wrong, but you continue to post garbage.

OK, there is the comment that proves you don't know what you are talking about.

You think it is OK for China to dump cheap steel and aluminum on the market hurting American jobs?

Do you realize the American government should help Americans first and not China?

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

Bull****, I'd like to see those "algorithms". That's code for "We decided not to punish Trump products or his kids products". You guys really will believe anything. Make America Corrupt Again is your slogan.
So china did that to reward Trump for the tariffs?

There are many millions of more jobs benefiting from cheap steel and aluminum than are hurt by it. :doh

Actually, as president he should have divested himself from those companies, as should have his daughter-wife.

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

Hey guus, this loser searchers the web day and night to find topics to make idiotic threads, the lest you could do is remain on topic. Lol

In compiling the list, U.S. officials used algorithms to identify products that benefited from China’s state-directed campaign of technology acquisition while eliminating those whose inclusion would disrupt the U.S. economy. The list was drafted to achieve “the lowest consumer impact,” according to Robert E. Lighthizer, the U.S. trade representative. So, clothing and toys were excluded.

I stopped taking their criticisms seriously long ago. I thant thats whats frustrated them so much. They are desperately trying to soliciate emotional responses and most people are like myself who just ignores them. They are beside themselves over the fact that we will not jump on the anti-trump banfwagon that they are demanding we agree with. They keep calling us every sort of name they can concoct, i guess to try and shame us into going along with thier character assanation.

Fact is trump has had some very good results while in office.

This post perfectly illustrates my earlier point.

Re: Ivanka Exempt from Chian Tariffs

The reason Trump is doing this is the same as the reason Obama put a 35% tariff on tires from China in 2009 -- because the Chinese were flooding the market with cheap tires and the US tire manufactures could not compete and, as a result, jobs in that sector were way down.

That's what's happening today, it's been happening for a decade. China (and other countries) are flooding the US market with cheap steel and US steel manufactures have been laying off workers for 10 years because of it. These are not low-end garment-worker jobs, steel-manufacturing jobs are often union and they pay good wages.

While you're all excited about China, what you don't seem to know is that the biggest exporter of both steel and aluminum to the US, is Canada. We import from other countries as well, and every one of them is also subject to the tariff.

Back to Ivanka. Most clothing factory workers lost their jobs decades ago, because the average American no longer wants to pay $50 per shirt, when they can buy one from Walmart for $15. The quality is not as good, but Americans just don't care, they'd rather have multiple (almost disposable) outfits rather than a few, well-made outfits that they wear for years. Consumer habits have changed. There's no way in the world we can ever go back to all American-made clothing. That's been debated for years. Steel is different because it's a material, not a finished product.

We actually do have some apparel factories left in the US, but they are virtually still slave shops. Nowhere near the wages paid to workers in the steel industry. Behind a $13 shirt, a $6-an-hour worker - Los Angeles Times

I'm still not sure you'll understand this, and even if you do, you'll likely play dumb, so strong is your hatred of all-things-Trump, but the reason Ivanka's industry is not included in the tariffs is because her industry is not harming US jobs. Plus, she doesn't manufacture in all the nations that will be subject to the steel and aluminum tariffs.

If you can think back to the time Obama levied the larger tariff against Chinese tires, you may recall that he didn't institute an apparel tariff either.

For exactly the same reasons.

You're ruining their hate fest with common sense.
