The Republican nominee for a northern New Mexico congressional seat suggested during a radio interview that the United States could place land mines along the Mexican border to secure the international boundary.
================================================
The United States is one of the few countries to still use land mines, such as around Gitmo in Cuba. With multi-lingual warning signs, mine fields could be used to direct the flow of migrants to check points. Save a lot of money. We probably have them already in inventory.

Oh, and this guy won that election.

I am quite sure that the current crop of Republicans (the most despicable lot that I have ever had the unpleasant opportunity to witness) would have zero problems with land mines blowing up little Mexican kids that were crossing the border at the direction of their parents.

It would certainly give the buzzards something to keep busy with.

I thank God each and every day that I left the world of DC politics long before this current crop of disgusting Republicans came to "The Hill". I worked for and against some "Class A assholes" in DC, but each of them did garner a measure of respect for their character and spine (even if you vehemently opposed their politics). Sadly, this group of Republicans like McConnell, Ryan and Nunes simply have neither.

I particularly dislike Nunes who is Trump's bag man, scurrying back & forth between the WH & Capitol with his bag of tricks.

We could put up a wall to keep those poor Mexican victims from accidently wandering into our minefields. That way trump can have his wall and dems could feel good about spending the money on something that will protect thrir favorite class of people

Land mines? Land mines?

Is this guy ignorant, or just a sick sonofabitch?

185 miles in 2.5 hours on 1st leg—it’s like NASCAR out here on I-80; gotta go; I’ll be reading when I can ...

Not bad... not bad at all.

Some sharks with Lasers would be good too!

If you actually read the article and not just the headline, the comment was a "reductio ad absurdum" response to a comment that nothing could be done to secure the border. He was throwing out a completely ridiculous plan to address a completely ridiculous comment. Both the article and Mullins make that very clear. Of course, you'll deny it, avoid the truth using every single neuron available to you and latch onto this like a tick on a cow.

That's just your hate on display and not a reflection of anything approaching reality...

Republicans elect ****ing monsters.

Read the article, please. Posting silly stuff like this makes it look like all you did was read the OP and were too lazy to go any further than that.

I read the entire article. It's obvious you didn't.

Mullins subsequently won the primary on June 1.

During the May 18 interview with KNMX radio in Las Vegas, N.M., Mullins said the U.S. could mine the border, install barbed wire and post signs directing would-be border jumpers to cross legally at designated checkpoints.

"We could put land mines along the border. I know it sounds crazy. We could put up signs in 23 different languages if necessary," Mullins says in the radio interview, where he also expressed concern that terrorists could carry a nuclear weapon across the Mexican border.

He explained Monday the suggestion about land mines was something he'd heard while campaigning, and that it came in response to a complaint that nothing could be done to secure the border.

"When I heard it, I said, 'Well, that's an interesting concept,"' Mullins said.

As he did in the radio interview, Mullins went on to say the national laboratories could be directed to develop non-lethal detection equipment to improve border security.

Shhh....don't ruin it! Let the Lefties roll with their faux anger and pearl-clutching. It's fun to watch!

..and he made it clear that it was an absurd response to an absurd comment.

Of course not. I know more than a couple posters here have already supported such measures to shoot and kill at our border even at children.

The image of a mother and her baby getting blown to bits by a land mine will surely warm the cockles of some hearts.

Full 3 lanes from Omaha to Linc—oln; literally took them decades to build; infrastructure debate?

After news broke of Sinclair Pravda broadcasting; I’ll be searching for all their sponsors tonight at motel; hopefully make Utah but high winds in Wyoming will be treacherous; no texting on the road !!!
