Pasadena, Tx Officer Kills Driver

They should offer it in pink and other less scary colors. This will likely make our federal airport nannies very nervous. I guess this gives police every reason to shoot anyone armed with a cellphone.

Not what I was going for, but whatever.

Cop shot him once when the guy shot at him the first time. Cop then waited a few seconds and shot him a couple more times when the guy tried shooting him again. What video did you see?

Watch closer. He has at least three bullet wounds to his upper Left torso as he staggers away from his car.

That's why when I get pulled over, I have my license and paper work in my hand, both hands on the steering wheel, awaiting further instructions before the officer even gets out of his vehicle.

I'm not saying the cop in that video is right, but I feel like we, the civilians, have a responsibilty to conduct ourselves in a manner that won't make the officer nervous.

The computerized warrant system makes things so much different in the US.

When you get stopped, at least in my town, by the police, you get out of the car and go shake the mans hand and he tells you what he stopped you for.

If you can't argue your way out of it, he gives you a ticket, or some people give him 50 pesos and drive off.

The warrant system makes the police much more aggressive as well as the citizens that have something to worry about.

If the responding officer(s) gets killed at the scene, the public is no longer safe.

It easy to say that when it isn't your life on the line.

Me? I'm going to keep doing everything I can think of to make absolutely sure the cop knows I'm not a threat.

Are you saying police officers should risk the lives of civilians to protect their own? That's the total opposite of what they're supposed to be doing. It's totally insane to unload 20 shots at someone without knowing they have a gun. I doubt they were 100% sure they had the right person. They could have shot a child or bullets could have killed another innocent civilians. All without ever confirming there was a gun in the first place.

If you shoot an unarmed civilian you should be fired immediately. If you or I f-up at work we get fired.

Pinning on the badge isn't a suicide pact.

If you shoot an unarmed civilian you should be fired immediately.

Without question, nor due process? That would destroy morale and the quality of the police forces would plunge, making matters even worse.

If you or I f-up at work we get fired.

Depends on the **** up. Some **** ups are idiotic negligence and some are unavoidable mistakes. In the case of Stephon Clark, it was an unfortunate, possibly unavoidable, mistake.

What are you talking about? Of course it was avoidable. Don't shoot people unless you're certain they have a weapon. They had cover. It was totally unnecessary.

They got scared and killed an unarmed civilian. They weren't even sure he was the man they were after.

I'm shocked that something as simple as DON'T SHOOT UNLESS YOU'RE SURE THEY HAVE A GUN would be controversial. It's insane to shoot people JUST-IN-CASE they MAY have a weapon.

Don't fire until fired upon? That will never work.
