On June 18, 2016, one of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s most trusted lieutenants circulated an extraordinary memo weighing the costs of the company’s relentless quest for growth.

“We connect people. Period. That’s why all the work we do in growth is justified. All the questionable contact importing practices. All the subtle language that helps people stay searchable by friends. All of the work we do to bring more communication in. The work we will likely have to do in China some day. All of it,” VP Andrew “Boz” Bosworth wrote.

So we connect more people,” he wrote in another section of the memo. “That can be bad if they make it negative. Maybe it costs someone a life by exposing someone to bullies.

“Maybe someone dies in a terrorist attack coordinated on our tools.”

The explosive internal memo is titled “The Ugly,” and has not been previously circulated outside the Silicon Valley social media giant.

These tech douchebags who've taken over the Bay Area of California really think terrorism and deaths derived from bullying are like totally worth it bro. They really think that Facebook's personal growth is more important than human lives. We can't trust these people with our data.

I hope people seriously revolt against Facebook, and they become as irrelevant as MySpace.

You do realize the internet alone has done this for decades right? And here you are using the internet. Wow, people like you post some of the most idiotic comments.

Too late.

Facebook has more users than people that follow Christianity in the WORLD. Like it or not, they are here to stay and will continue to grow. Realize they even haven't monetized from WhatsApp or Instagram yet.

The moster has been unleashed.

As for Facebook, I have much more faith than them handling my information than the damn government.

Facebook doesn't kill people, people do. Perhaps you want to ban swimming pools as well?

Social media is overrated. I couldn't tell you when was the last time I actually looked at my Facebook. I rarely text, preferring to use the phone as it was intended to be used. This website is the closest thing to "chatting" I ever do.

I like REALITY, and real human interaction. I wish more people felt that way.

I've never heard a vice president of a billion dollar publicly traded company say that their personal growth is more important than human lives that may be lost because of it. Have you?

I'm about 99% sure that Facebook feeds your information to the government.

Yes, Tobacco companies lied about cigarettes, oil companies lied about climate change, chemical companies lied about toxic chemicals, Big Pharma lied about prescription opioids, nuclear power companies lied about meltdowns, car manufactures lied about safe cars, etc...and that ain't the half of it.

Publicly traded companies are more beholden to their share holders than their customers or the public at large.

Bosworth didn't lie though, he told the truth, which is that Facebook may result in human death in their all-important quest to "connect people". And as Vice President of Facebook, he doesn't care.

No one living today thinks highly of big tobacco, oil or pharma. Some do think highly of tech giants like Facebook however, and I want them to know that Facebook executives are no different than executives of other companies, despite their attempts to appear benign

Nobody is forcing anyone to use Facebook. Soooo dramatic!

You're right. You've never heard it because he never said that.

Your kids are probably more influenced by what they see on Facebook than by anything else. FB has an agenda.

My kid doesn't use FB anymore. Hardly used it when it was more popular.
