US school shooting: Police investigate Marylan

Three victims and the shooter wounded. Nobody dead, thank goodness.

Becoming a regular occurrence it seems.

School resource officer shot the gunman.

Edit: During that gun fight, 2nd student was wounded. Both gunman and initial victim are critical.

Perhaps one day we'll see a headline: "No mass shootings for a whole month!"

But, let's not count on it.
 
The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says it happened at Great Mills High School and that police are on the scene. ABC7's Brad Bell said sources tell him the shooter was a student and is one of the three injured. Bell says a school resource officer took action to end the threat and authorities confirmed the incident has been contained.

Thankfully there was a resource officer that had some balls. It could have been a lot worse but it still sucks.

Yes, and if the media was responsible they would make that their headlines on this story. These sociopathic murderers are not nearly as likely to go after the soft targets of the schools when the word gets out they are no longer soft targets.

Meanwhile prayers for the victims and those who were required to experience it.

Yea.....gun nuts will jump all over that in some kind of vindication parade. What an extremely sad set of circumstances that push the need for armed guards on a school campus.

No, he didn't prevent it. He responded to and stopped a mass school shooting in progress.

Yes, a mass shooting was prevented. Not a shooting prevented, but a mass shooting.

The MSN will give this 1-2 news cycles, and then it will disappear since it doesn't fit the narrative and they don't want to disabuse anyone of the notion that hardening schools and looking at the "why" of school shootings matters, so close to the "March For Our Lives", which is meant first and foremost to secure Democratic voters and anti-gun advocates.

A sociopathic murderer isn't going to just not shoot up a school because they read about other school shooters getting taken out by SRO's.

These people rarely have a post-event plan in place other than to die, by police gunfire or by their own hand, as this is how most mass shootings eventually end. Relatively few school shooters live to face trial. Just like increased police patrols show no meaningful impact on murder rates, armed security doesn't usually deter a person dead set on shooting up their school. Their motivation to exact revenge or lash out at those students and/or teachers is an overriding motivation that all but mitigates their fear of consequences for committing the crime. Individuals who decide to attack a school do it deliberately, it's almost always related to an issue with someone some group specific at the school they shoot up. It's not a random process.

Fortunately for most of the advanced nations in the world, our children, are held in such a regard there's generally no one wishing to kill them.
