Actually, I believe the Democrat Party demanded the IG investigate the Trump Admin and Sessions (big mistake) and he found what McCabe did and the OPR recommended McCabe be fired because of it.

Looks like the IG may have found a whole lot more about a whole lot more people than McCabe.

Keep that resist, resist, resist hope for change alive and don't forget all of that (evidence coming soon?) collusion with Russia. The word "suspect" would more accurately be "hope" in your seemingly endless quest for Trump's demise.

I’m not going to pretend to know the inner workings of the FBI, but I do know that the potus has the ultimate say on such matters. And again, Trump himself made it obvious with his tweets suggesting McCabe’s days were numbered. Are you seriously going to pretend that Trump doesn’t do this all the time? His own damn SoS was fired via Twitter.

No the potus does not direct the IG. The potus appoints the IG. Obama appointed this one.

Trimp wanted McCabe gone. He said as much when he blabbed on Twitter. And now, surprise! He’s gone. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out.

Of course they report to him; however, each OPR consists of people who work in that particular department/agency.

In other words: McCabe was "convicted" by his peers and the verdict - fire him - was given to the "judge" (Sessions).

My money is on obstruction of justice, money laundering and other malfeasances. The boi is dirty. And, his days are certainly numbered.
 
And McCabe was already retiring. To fire him two days before he can collect a pension is just a dick move and screams revenge.

Clearly, with what was revealed, McCabe was the 4th in the McCabe / Strzok / Page / Comey foursome that corrupted the Clinton email investigation, and orchestrated the bogus Russia / Trump collusion campaign.

They all need to go, and criminal charges filed appropriate for each of their actions.
