So THIS is what gets Democrat ethics all worked up? Not Hillary Russian collusion, not Uranium One, not the Clinton Foundation, not the Trump dossier, but people sleeping in their own offices? That produces ethical outrage? That is their priority? Not the long list of CBC members charged with financial corruption?

When did dems ever state that this is their priority?

You should really consider thinking things through before posting.

They have been at it for over two years, letter writing; I'd call it a priority. Definitely sounds like it's very important to them to put a stop to this nasty, unhealthful practice. If they slept in the street that would be OK, though.

I kinda agree with that.
We should also stop funding their sexual abuse settlements!
Washington ssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkssssssssssssss

Why do you care where they sleep? I understand about not paying their sex bills.

I guarantee you that they are not foregoing their housing allowance.

So, IOW, you need it to be a priority, even thought it's clearly not.

Got it. Thanks.

And what have the republicans done? Absolutely nothing. Jesus christ I'm so sick of these hacks ****ting all over the forum with stupidity

Yeah, I gotta say this doesn’t bother me in the least. First, what is unsanitary about sleeping in your office? Second, usually when people sleep in their office it is in part because they have a lot of work to do and they work late and start back to work early. Nobody does it because it is comfortable.

Govt resources shouldnt be used for personal reasons.
I mean, dont get me wrong, i dont care if anything ever comes of this. I just understand the reasoning behind it.

If they're pulling the occasional all nighter, that's ok. If they're actually living there, they should pay some kind of rent.

Tell ya what...that traffic alone would be enough to convince me to crash in my office frequently, depending on obligations on-site.

That, coupled with the cost of lodging in the area, makes it a smart choice.

I think housing should be provided for them in DC since they are required to work both there and in their home district. I think we should either give them a modest housing stipend on par with what we give our military members living in the area or provide some sort of congressional dormitory.

Like those divorced men's apt complexes they show on TV...they'll be grateful to be back in the Capitol working!

Seems like such a small issue for the CBC to get riled up about. There must be something else to it....

Rather hollow isn't it. Have you seen the cost of real estate in DC? Congress critters have homes, families, children etc. and even though they make a good wage it is impossible for many to maintain two homes. Eating out can get real expensive too even in the cafeterias so they have hotplates, coffee makers, mini fridges and microwaves to prepare quick bites. Normally they have a storage room off from their office that becomes their closet, mini kitchen and a place to store their bedding. They use the shower facilities in the gym. Their dirty laundry goes home with them replenished with clean along with a few cans of soup, snacks, coffee, tea, cereal etc. for the coming week.

I don't see a darn thing wrong with it. If the Democrats want to get serious about ethics maybe they should deal with the Anwan scandal they don't want to talk about.

Feel free to send your tax return to the "shelter a politician" program. Otherwise, they can pay for it themselves, they make enough off the taxpayers.

With all of the money that they spend applying for the job I am sure that they knew what the job entails. If they don't like the job then they can quit.

a lot of them, especially the newer ones, can't afford to have a home in their own state plus even an apartment in DC.

I actually think Skeptic's idea of giving them a separate living allowance might be a good solution. They might also group together to rent an apartment. Or maybe, gasp, Move their families to D.C. like normal people.

If this had occured during the Obama Administration, EVERY ****ing phony ass "fasmily values" Conservative would have been screaming IMPEACHMENT from every House and Senate office in DC.

They can't move their families to DC. In order to get elected they have to be residents of the area where they live and then they serve in DC. That either requires two homes or one home in the state where you live and sleep in their DC offices. Many can't afford two homes, especially one in DC.
