Oprah recieves a sign fron "god"

Clinging to their bibles and guns.

Funny thing for a Christian to say.

Murdering a bunch of black people in a church.

"Funny" thing for a Christian to do.

We can play this idiotic tit-for-tat all day. It is meaningless and explains so much of what is wrong with current public life. The reality is that there are lots of bad apples in any category of human you can dream up. That's because humans are, by and large, pieces of ****.

Be reasonable.

He was a Catholic Priest, or Mormon Church leader??? Oh maybe he was an evangelical preacher...

As far as 'mocking' Islam, Google Jeff Dunham. He has been doing his comedy routines for years- TV specials and everything. Can't recall any backlash from Liberals or death threats from Muslims.

Perhaps this persecution complex is just you and your ilk (GAWD I love that word now!!!) :peace

Ask Texans how "draw the prophet day went" Hint, muslims shot the place up. Jeff Dunham does not make images of Muhammed.

Mocking GOD does not exactly scream "devout" to my thinking.

Maybe his personal belief in god - his religion - is that this God is not a moron and therefore knows that Colbert is not condemning him, but making a joke? Maybe this god likes jokes or maybe he doesn't. You don't know that any more than I or Colbert do.

The biblical God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. It is all-allness. But more. If it exists, this thing exists at all points in spacetime, at all other points and non-points, in all possible universes, in and at all imposibilities, probabilities, maybes and never-weres. This thing exceeds existence; by definition, it exceeds "it"-ness. It exceeds the wildest imaginations of a mortal being, of any conceptual being. It exceeds itself, by definition. If it exists, it is impossible but exceeds impossibility.

If this thing exists, it cannot be fooled. This thing will know exactly what Colbert was doing and why. Sooo....why try to fight its battle on its behalf? If it is God, none of us have anything on it.

Did you have a point? Did roof say he was? And if so, that is germane how?

I find it condescending and mocking. As pertains to Muhammad, they don't take kindly to portraying him.

I'm a Christian and it does make me cringe but I don't expect non-Christians to understand my perspective.

I don't know why you're brining Muslims into this. You admit you're offended yet are trying to claim this is an example of how much more tolerant Christians are than Muslims. But the Christian Right, people like Roy Moore, have no problem with throwing people in jail for homosexuality. There are religious extremists in all religions.

The U.S. and Europe are just far more secular. Are you proud that we're more secular than most Muslim countries?

I don't think you have a point.

That's between him and God. But I think he's accomplishing what he set out to do, and Oprah was laughing hysterically. Job well done.

Yes, I have a point. Do I have to copy/paste the whole exchange?

You were going on about muslims generally, based on the actions of a few. Therefore, I highlighted ways in which you could go on about Christians, based on the actions of the few. I then highlighted the ways you didn't.

I also pointed out that Colbert was a damn comedian and Oprah a social entertainment creature of related variety.

You then started to go on about Christians being mocked and belittled, so I pointed out that that's not happening. You claimed any instance of mocking Islam means you're labeled a bigot, but you didn't provide examples of things said by your target (I take it to be "the left") who said stuff that was actually bigotted but not called it by the people defending Oprah.

Why does everything blow up in this retarded manner? Christians aren't under siege.

Depends on their fruits, GOD says in the Bible that he guides Kings and rulers.

Which version of the Bible? We know the KJV was altered to be more kind to kings. My biggest problem with the Oprah segment has nothing to do with the skit itself. I'm genuinely worried Democrats might try to elect Oprah.

And watch as asshole liberals who swore celeb candidates are the bane of politics magically rally behind her.

Sure I do, mocking Christianity is "in style" these days Mocking Muslims is taboo, one is labled as a bigot, Islamaphobic, and racist. Think about it, Christians are fair game while Muslims are sacred cows.

We don't have kings and rulers here. We have elected representatives of the people. Some of them claim that God speaks to them to justify their actions. Is so, God is clearly working outside the parameters. ;)

I think it easier to believe that they are lying to attract the support of Christians, and that is SAD.

People enjoy jokes more about things with which they are familiar. And comedians joke about things with which they are familiar. Comedians who grow up around Christians joke about Christianity. Jewish comedians joke about being Jewish. Muslim comedians (yes they exist) joke about life as a Muslim. So do Hindu comedians. I haven’t personally seen any Buddhist comedians but I am sure they exist.

Now, most of these comedians are not devout or may even be apostates, but the point is they grew up around it and it is what they know. That is how most comedy works.

I think mocking is fine, depends on presentation. Don't really care what is mocked, do a good job and I'll have a chuckle.

Do you also have this confusion with white and black people? If so, then perhaps you don't understand the difference between the majority and minority, and how that plays into what's inappropriate.

Men and women, same issue? Again, majority and minority.

Semantics.
