N. Korea now says it will talk about giving up nukes, another win for Trump

Why is that (bolded above) a fact? Little Kim is feeling the squeeze and it was not from SK diplomacy. Sanctions are making the already bad in NK get worse and Little Kim is getting nervous enough, about Trump's bigger button that he claims works, to beg for talks.

See Lunarose's post above.

You assume a lot. Kim has been under pressure before. I doubt he's intimidated by Trump. I know I wouldn't be of a leader that shoots his mouth off like Trump.

I believe North Korea was wanting talks for years. The only advance right now is that NK said they would stop testing during the time of the talks

Which is indeed almost certainly a meaningless promise. I'd bet they weren't planning on testing anyway since they've tested enough to know they've got the design down for smaller scale atomic weapons. No point in testing if one is, as I suspect, simply working on the next design.

(Plus, I've read that they very likely have seriously destabalized a portion of the mountain range they used for underground testing, which is another good reason to back off).

That is true, but to go from stating they will never give up nukes to saying it is on the table is a big move and involved Kim losing face, so it is not an insignificant development. In my opinion, Trump is a much better negotiator than he is given credit for and if that is the case, it is a good thing for America.

Wanna bet that any agreement requires total withdrawal of American forces from the peninsula? There is a reason they are not talking with the U.S.

North Korea clarified that it had no reason to retain nuclear weapons if "the military threat to North Korea is resolved" and the country's security can be guaranteed, Chung said.

I would not trust anything coming out of N. Korea. The deceptions will be evident in a few months or less.
- Do not accept a Trojan pony from them or a grandmother with a basket of apples.

Winning? South Korea managed the whole thing with rather impressive diplomatic maneuvering. It was the South that welcomed Kim and the North to the Olympics. It was the SK talking and negotiating with NK that past month or so...It was SK that went to Pyongyang yesterday and got Kim Jun un willing to negotiate with the United States on abandoning his country’s nuclear weapons.

Pence just ignored the North while in SK, and just stared across the border with a cartoonish hard line look as if that will accomplish anything....Trump just acted like a little kid spattering insults and threats all over twitter..And you really think it was the Trump administration that convinced NK to negotiate?:lamo

Yes you are right... NK suddenly just decided to play nice because the South talked to them... :lamo There is one born every second.

Of course you say you agree with that.

Of course you do not explain how sending a few tweets out that insulted Kim supposedly accomplished anything.

Naturally, this is because Trump didn't do anything different than predecessors other than a few childish tweets. Otherwise, it was just sanctions....like his predecessors.

Kim is playing the US, and in doing so, trying to drive a little wedge between us and SK. The idea that Kim is suddenly going to give up his nukes because Trump called him rocket man and said he was fat (talk about irony) is lunacy.

You guys cannot admit the truth when it is blatantly obvious. Fact is Trump is teaching school on how to negotiate and to get what you want and he makes all the clowns who came before him look like the worthless no loads they really were. Trump will go down in history as one of the most effective Presidents ever... By the way, I think all of the people who have been criticizing him and standing in the way of progress should figure their share of their lower taxes under Trump and write a check to the Federal Government because they did not support the tax cut to begin with... :moon:

The left must be in total amazement at how Trump despite his bumbling continues to win where his predecessor's have failed miserably. Just wait until he makes the rest of the world heal on unfair trade practices and he may just go down as one of the most effective Presidents in history.

What a joke. You do realize the North Koreans are pathological liars.....right?
