Trump says he will order tariffs on steel, aluminum imports next week

There goes Trump’s 30 million dollar wall. Now Mexico will have to pay maybe 40 million.

Think Mexico will back out now? :lamo
Who woulda thunk it that protective tariffs would be en vogue in the GOP again?

It depends on a lot of factors. Can U.S. steel makers meet the demand? How much more expensive is U.S. steel? Is the quality the same? Is the variety the same?

If there's no U.S. steel to buy, you have to pay the tariff.

It feels to me that Donald Trump is still stuck in 1985. All his policies may have made more sense back then.

US Steel is my experience much better quality than Chinese steel, at least for Irrigation parts. I loudly complained to my employer about it, switched back to US steel parts despite the higher cost since they don't leak, have higher tolerance level, not deformed and the inner/threads threads matches well together. Because of the much better quality, didn't have to use expandable leak resistant Teflon based paste anymore.
